George David is the name we've got at the top of our list of one name (Operation Evan is sunk but considering how I feel about my MiL right now, I'm not willing to go with anything she might even remotely feel she's influenced in any way, shape or form). The only qualm my OH has is that George is his middle name and he doesn't quite know if he should feel weird about that.

Personally, I love the name and like that he'll share a name with his little boy (if we in fact have a boy) but is there anything else I can say to keep him keen on George? Are any of you using your names for your little ones? It's a family name on his side too which makes it easier to use. I need some points for the 'pro' column if he wavers.

I'm week 35 tomorrow, I need a name settled!

I think it makes the name WAY more special that it is also your husbands middle name. Your son will probably go on to use it as the middle name of his son and a family tradition will be created that could last for generations...

The only reason I'd not use it would be if you have a boy this time and use George do you have another special boys name to use if you have a second son?
My hubby's brother was given his dad's name as his middle name and always did lots with him. By the time hubby came along (third) there was not much time and no special family name left and it bothered him a lot.

Starfish, I almost welled up at the thought of grandchildren! I hope it becomes something special. I'll definitely press the special significance of the name and how it links us together.

Interesting point, Claire. As we're using a family name on my side as the middle name for our future daughter we have it covered with regards to gender but not if we have two boys. I've suggested boys names from my side, Eric being special to me, but everything has been shot down. It's taken us a long time to get one name. If we end up having two boys (or three, or four, god help me) there will be special boys names to choose from - I just need to get my OH on side.

Ps my dad is George and I love the name, would have been on my list had I have had a boy but just pink ones here :)
