Hi everyone! Im very new to the forum.

We have been TTC for almost 18 months. I have to go back to docs soon to discuss potential IVF however I was wondering whether any of you guys have experience of the process and the waiting list estimations for Wales?

My doctor mentioned to come back after 18 months so I have an appointment ready but reading up online it actually says that you must be TTC for 2 years ?? Is it possible to be put on the waiting list if it's so long prior to this or is it generally 18 months TTC then IVF waiting list??? The goal posts just get further and further away don't they

I know I have asked lots of questions so apologies but any advice greatly appreciated. A huge good luck to you all too and thank you for taking the time to read this xxx

Have you had any tests so far?

I’m in Wales and went to gp at 18 months ttc, first our GP did day 21 bloods for me and sent my hubby off to do SA (semen analysis), when both came back as normal was referred to gynea specialist/consultant, which took 6 months before the appointment came through.

Nothing really happened at the first appointment with them, was referred from there for an ultrasound and hsg (Hysterosalpingography). The hsg was a month after this appointment and the ultrasound was 2 months after. Then after both I had to go back to see gynea who then referred me for ivf. It was about a 9 or 10 month wait for first appointment with ivf clinic and then another 2 months wait before we even started ivf.


Of course this all may be different all over Wales, good luck xx

Thanks so much for getting in touch! We have had SA and I have had blood tests the same as you had by the sound. I have an appointment on Thursday this week which is our 18 months TTC date that our GP said to come back for so I'm thankful that you have shared your experience because it sounds very similar to the process that we may find ourselves in shortly. I was worried that IVF would be around 2 years waiting list so whilst yes it may be different in each area, it's encouraging to read your experience in the sense that things were being tested through out this period even though I guess it was 2 years ish! I can see from your story at the bottom of your post that you have been trying now for 5 years and suffered what must have been absolute heart break within that time too. I hope that you get your positive soon my lovely. Xx

Thank you so much for commenting and for your well wishes! How many months have you been TTC? I had an appointment with the doctor today who has referred me for a scan and to the Gaenacologist which I'm feeling really positive about... as atleast things are moving and there's a plan! The Gaenacologist will be able to refer to IVF if needed so we will have to wait and see. How old are you? xx

I am 30 and been TTC since March this year so about 6 months but as you can see from my signature have had 2 MCs in that time. AF is due next week and then we are back to TTC. We are hoping to TTC our first baby.
Sounds like your GP has things in hand. I have to say the NHS has its good moments and its rubbish moments. Hopefully things will go smoothly for you xx

I'm so sorry to read about your miscarriages. Two in such a short space of time must be exhausting and upsetting for you both. Yes the doctor seems to be on it for me which is great. I'm 26 and been trying for 18 months. I wish you all the luck for the next cycle xx

Yes, it was hard but we are excited for the coming month and ttc a baby for next year. Good luck to you.

It sounds like your really positive which is amazing!!! Just what you need when TTC! We are positive about it all too now but have been through lots of ups and downs. Hahaha aww no it's not - sorry to disappoint! I don't really know why I came up with it lol. My partner is a GOT addict himself. I can't get past season 3 ���� I think it's fab but I get bored so easily lol need to up my game ready for next year though!!

Yeah trying to stay positive as it has been a heartbreaking year so I cant cope with being sad all the time. Seen you are testing about same time as me on September thread! Hope we both get a bfp thos month xxx
