Morning ladies, hope we are all doing well on this wet bank holiday Monday!

Like many of us women, I have had issues with my weight over the years, especially now I've got older (not that old but still!), I'm only 28!
I've always been a physical and active person, having spent many years working with horses or being in physically demanding jobs.

In the last few years, I've usually sat around 11st 7lbs to 12st but 13st is my current weight!

I have a strict exercise regime I try to keep at home which includes stationary cycling for an hour and 30 minutes of weight training (I walk too), I do this every day when I wake up and I drink decaf green tea a few times a day (I'm not a tea person anymore).

Before I found out I was pregnant, I weighed about 12st 4lbs, but it was coming up to Easter and I was scoffing a lot of Crème Eggs, so was a bit naughty!

My problem right now is my appetite is very wishy washy and I find myself having to force myself to eat as I'm not really hungry, but I feel like I'm putting weight on too fast and I feel like I'm struggling to keep it under control! :wall2:

For reference, my stats are currently along these lines:

6ft tall
Bust 49in
Waist 32in
Hips 44

8 weeks pregnant too.

I'm well aware that I will put on weight, I just want to try and keep it healthy and not gain it so fast! Any tips and advice would be greatly appreciated! :-D

xx

I think weight management can be really tough in pregnancy. I'm very much on the petite side but I'm always busy so even though I'm not gym goer, I'm sure I burn off more than I think I do!!

I'm with you in that I'm finding my appetite is very wishy washy and although I'm still wanting to eat all the things I normally would, I'm finding that I'll get part way through and decide I've had enough.

My energy levels are also crap so if I was a gym goer, I wouldn't be right now. There's just no way!! Are you still managing your usual exercise? Hats off to you if you are :)

I know a lot of ladies follow Slimming World while they're pregnant. Could you try eating small portions often? I hope this helps a bit.

I'm still managing my usual exercise yes, thankfully my fatigue hit me at about week 4 and then I went back to my normal self!

I'm a housewife, so I have a lot of time on my hands to fit my regime in and do other physical things during the day, but I certainly do have my lazy moments!

My appetite is a bit of a weird one currently, I'm not hungry per say, but I can still eat a decent meal when I put my mind to it. Went through a 3 day phase of wanting only grilled chicken!

I found the best policy when I was pregnant was to eat smaller meals and more often.

Good to hear the fatigue has got better. It hit me week 6 out of nowhere as I was totally fine up to that point. Hopefully it will pass soon.

I think it's probably about finding a balance though I'm still struggling to find it. OH is starting to learn a little bit as he was finding if he asked me if I wanted something I'd say no but if he just put it down I'd eat it. He's now just handing me a portion of whatever he's made and I don't think I've ever refused anything yet lol. We do like to eat out but we've had to be a bit careful as a couple of times I've felt really hungry then not eaten the main after having a starter. Thankfully I was able to box up what I'd ordered so it wasn't wasted. We've been trying to do meals that can keep so there's no pressure on me to eat if I don't fancy it but it's there if I want it.

I don't know if I have tips. I am freaked out about gaining weight. Prior to pregnancy I was on a low carb diet so now I am gaining. I was 11 st 2 at the start and now at 8 weeks am 11 st 5. I can't exercise as I'm disabled, which makes it very hard.

I also have a chocolate habit which I am now forcing myself to give up.

There are websites which can generate a healthy weight gain for you given your starting weight throughout your pregnancy like this https://www.babycenter.com/pregnancy-weight-gain-estimator

Just keep an eye on it.

Thanks for this - handy guide. I'm a bit worried because I've put on a fair bit, and def more than I should at this stage (10+6 and at least 6 lb heavier). I'm especially concerned since I'm categorised as high risk of gd because my dad is diabetic.

I'm naturally slim, very active and generally eat a healthy diet. Problem has been that the tiredness has reduced my gym trips, and nausea has only been kept at bay with constant carbs. I'm hoping I'll get back on a healthier weight track now that nausea seems to be easing (past couple of days anyway!). Does anyone have experience of this with their current/past preg?

Hi there!

I believe you are not alone on this.

I'm 8 weeks pregnant and I keep putting on weight faster as I thought. I followed slimming world and lost over 2 stones and since January by eating habits got very bad and out of control...after discovering that I'm pregnant I thought "hold on a minute...that is why" but I'm not really happy to put so much weight on while I am not even 3 months :/

By all means...of course I will gain weight...I just thought this will happen a little bit later and not right away.

Anyway...I think as someone else already suggested: More meals, smaller portions and more frequently could be the key. That is what I will try now.
