Wee man has been referred for his hips...(Alice) need advice !

http://www.pregnancyforum.co.uk/parenting-journals/125037-our-hip-dysplasia-journey.html i've just shed a few tears reading that  i kinda never got back to finishing it, but it was an emotional journey, but has made us all so much stronger!

cant believe i missed it! i do usually do a search every now and again just incase anyone's posted about hips! chances are he's just a little chubber, but it is always best to have these things checked!

I've since met loads of mums whose babies are getting referred :)

i really am glad they're referring more babies! seems like they're really takig notice! my sister's got it slightly too, but my parents were just told she had a bit of an underdeveloped hip and it'll sort itself out! cue a gazillion trips to a&e getting gravel cleaned out her knee where she's fallen over running about

The wee mans appointment is tomorrow :| abit nervous :(

Well guys...

Well appointment went well.....I think :eh:

Hip scan showed both hip sockets well in and developing normally and no dislocation :yay:

Both legs are same length so the extra crease isn't a a problem :)

But she did think he was alligned more to the right :| asked if he slept on his side (he doesn't), she said there wasn't a a problem as his scan was fine but wants to see him again in June so I'm happy but still not a a definite all-clear...

The little man loved it though  they told me he'd cry but he just giggled as he's so ticklish

Aww glad you got good news :) Maisie screamed when she was on her right but not on her left xx

He was totally relaxed  although the legs were going mad  but even when she held his legs doing the scan he giggled

Glad it went so well :yay: and fingers crossed everything will be perfect in June too! x

They said bloody well when they saw the size of him  thought he'd be dinky

Glad it went well!! Ross had his when he was a few months, no extra creases but two GP's thought there were definate clicks. We saw the physio straight after the scan and she picked up some tightness on his left side of his neck! Nothing worrying though. And she had a GP in with her doing some training, she said they are encouraging GP's to refer at the slightest suspicion, and they are more than happy to see that babies are fine and picking up those who need treatment sooner.

well this is a great thread as Ellie has had a problem originally with her neck, but from the day we got her home I noticed that her left leg was shorther than the other and I said to the HV and the physio and they said it would correct itself, to cut a long story short at her neonatal check the dr noticed the problem straight away, she has an extra crease and also her whole bodt curves so they think that its a hip, or even a spine problem and not her neck now, so we are waiting for an appointment for an xray x
