Hey folks! Myself and the fiancé have been engaged since July, we planned to get married in October 2015 but now with the bump we'd like to get married before bump is due in June. We're looking at Jan/Feb to coincide with the 20 week scan.

My problem is, what to wear. I don't want the big white dress, I don't really want a dress full stop. At 5ft, I look so short and dumpy in a dress and flats, I don't want to look short and dumpy next to his 6ft 3!!!

Any thoughts on what I could wear? I want something semi-formal, nothing too snazzy (or expensive!!) but nice enough to be a bit dressy. Help!

So a dress of any kind is out?

What about a nice floaty skirt and blazer??

xxxx

Skirts and dresses of any kind are out really, I hate the way my legs look in skirts/dresses and flats. I look so stumpy, I can't adequately describe how unflattering it is.

Ideally I'd like some trousers and a nice top, but I don't know what sort of trousers to wear. I think I'll probably just go in a nice pair of jeans and a pretty top, I hate dressing up and I'd rather feel comfortable in what I'm wearing.

Everyone's telling me I have to wear a dress, I've gotten to the point where I've said no, I don't have to wear anything, I will wear what I'm comfortable in!!

I can get married in jeans, right?

Please dont wear jeans to ur wedding lol. Its a one time thing and u can wear jeans everyday.
What about a white trouser suit? X

I agree, don't get married in jeans, it's too special a day to wear jeans :)

Won't I look a bit like I'd be going to work?

That depends, do u often wear white trouser suits to work?

Not even a tea length dress with sky blue petticoat, matching cardi and gorgeous embellished ballet pumps...maybe peep toe?! No? Oh ok I admit I miss everything about wedding planning now I'm married lol!

I had a little google and dress alternatives seem few and far between! You absolutely do not have to wear one BUT do wear something special...not your usual jeans etc. You want to have a little excitement at the outfit hanging up the night before.
How about cigarette pants and a floaty, chiffony, silky top...go for sumptuous fabrics that feel great on. Next have this sort of style in their occasion wear so you can see what I mean :-)

Just out of interest have you tried any wedding dresses? I found peculiar things happened in bridal stores... I was adamant I didn't want a veil until the lady made me try one and I ended up blubbing "Now I feel like a real bride...I must have a cathedral length Swarovski encrusted veil to make my day complete etc etc. " (In the end my day was still complete marrying my hubby without said veil lol!)
My point being you might be surprised and like something you find in a bridal shop! Try googling mother of the bride type trouser suits etc for an idea of what is out there too. Xx

I can't afford a wedding dress, we're just going for the cheapest wedding we can, we want to keep it under £300 because that's really all we can afford. We're not even having a do, we're just going out for a meal afterwards.

Won't you look like you're nipping to Asda at the weekend in your jeans?

Probably!

I've dug out my gorgeous bright red wedge heels, I've decided I want to wear them as they're more supportive than stilettos and FAR more comfy, and it also means I can wear a dress! :dust:

So I'm going to go on the hunt for a nice floaty dress that's tight under my boobs and floats over my bump, and a nice red cardigan to go over the top!

Ooh love the red shoes and heels combo. :-) good luck. Xx
