I'm so so confused, my lo is 23 weeks, and we have tried her this morning on baby rice as she was grabbing our food and chewing whenever we chewed etc, anyway i thought 24 weeks is 6months and therefore we'd only started one week early, but after reading other posts i think we were supposed to wait until 6 months (going off the date she was born)???

Also now we have given her baby rice what are we supposed to do, are we supposed to offer it her everyday?? for a week?? or can we pick and choose when we offer it??? i'm just confused!!!!

You can pick and chose when you offer it.

My LO has been being weened since 14weeks, I dont give him food every day, as milk is his main source of nutriance.

When you do start offering other foods such as puree's assuming as you started with rice you are going down the puree route, offer apple puree for 3 days atleast, before changing to another flavour. This is to check for any allergys/intolerances/upsets, if you hit them with loads of different things, then they get an upset stomach, you will not know what caused it!!

I feed Corey one crushed up rusk, mixed with about 45ml of milk, then hafl a jar of a puree. He scoffs the lot, I cant believe how much he can fit in lol. OR baby rice, mixed with formula, and half a jar of puree, hes been having this for nearly 5 weeks now. In the next wk or two I am going to move on to giving him that ofr breakfast and intorducing a savory meal in the evening.

You know your LO best, do what you think :)

we're about the same as i just started with Anjali. If your LO was staring and seeming like she wanted to eat, its not too early. I was going to wait with Anjali but it just felt right a couple of weeks sooner.

i offer her the baby food once or twice a day but make sure milk is still the main thing. if she eats a lot, fine, if she doesnt eat a lot, fine. ive tried a few 3 foods just to see what she likes. i dont think theres any right or wrong

Thanks for replies up to now fed her baby rice on sat and then some today missed yesterday but she ate lot today she loved it. So what sort of food has she had?? how are you both doing anyway??

Were doing very well, he scoffs loads more than I expected. Which is good as hes not a great fan of milk - can hurt him to drink it.

I am moving onto giving him one savory meal in the evening/4pm ish and breakfast this week! But still give him all 4 bottles.

Try mixing some apple puree into the baby rice :) Do that for 4 days and see what LO thinks... then try another flavour!!

We started with baby rice once a day, then moved onto purees once a day for a couple of weeks then we introduced another meal for 2 weeks and then a third meal after that. Until last week we were giving the bottle first and then the purees, but now the food is the main source of nutrition we give that first and then less milk after.

We do one thing for 2 days as we have allergies/asthma, but the general advice now is that if there are nol allergies/asthma/hayfever etc in the immediate family you don't have to worry and can introduce things as and when. Now that we are onto meals it is a pain doing 2 days on each new thing as we have to make sure she has had each individual thing before we can give a meal :wall:

I think it depends how you want to do it, you know your baby best I just followed Ella's lead really.

We tried baby rice once but he wasn't keen so switched ot banana porrige and he loves it! We started with a few spoon fulss and now we are one quite a few ;)

I give Finlay porrige and his bottle with his second feed at about 11 then at 4/5 he has some carrot/sweet potato, a little bit of porrige and some milk (less than normal)

I tried the desserts but they are too runny for him just now as he is teething and drools which makes it runnier

Going to try mashed nana soon and other vegs but I want him to get used to one veg at a time - so we have no issues later on and we don't confuse him

bee- we did exactly the same- baby rice got a big thumbs down but she has been eating the banana porridge!

i'm going to try something savoury in the next few days

He loves the banana porridge!

For savoury we've been having carrot and had a bit of sweet potato. Made turnip too so got that to eat and bought more carrot, butternut squash and brocolli today to make up.

From around 4 and a half months ryan has been having a few spoons of food each day then i increased it so by the time he was 6 months he was having one decenct meal a day and last weekend i move him onto 2 meals a day so now he has lunch and dinner
