Weak cervix??

Sorry to gate crash 2nd tri (not due here for a week or so!) but was worried and wanted to check with you lovely ladies for a bit of advice....

Just been for a doc's appointment at the hospital. They wanted to see me because i've had two cone biopsies as treatment for pre cancerous cells.

Basically when i have my 12 week and nuchal scan on Thursday, i'm also having to have a cervical scan too, which will measure the dimensions of my cervix to establish if it might be too weak to carry a baby full term. If it is, they may put a stitch in, but she said that carries risks too (of infection, or miscarriage)

I'm now so worried about Thursday, i feel like there are so many tests and things that could bring bad news. Just got home and ended up crying for ages, because i'm so worried that i'll get to 12 weeks (which i didn't think i would) and then the thing that will end the pregnancy will be a late m/c due to a crappy cervix!!

Anyone else been in this situation? I soooo want to relax and enjoy this pregnancy, but feel like each week is a hurdle at the moment.

Just noticed your post and wanted to let you know about my sister in law. She has 4 misscarriages before doctors realised that she had a weak cervix. She now has 2 wonderful daughters aged 13 & 10 which were both successfully carried by her having her cervix stitched each time.

Hope this might give you a bit a reassurrance

At least they are checking you hun! They may decide to put a stitch in (usually around 16 weeks) and that will hold up until baby time!!

Exactly! I have never been checked for a weak cervix! At least you will be extra reassured when they tell you everything fine!!

God i hope so!!! What with the nuchal AND cervical scan on same day, it all just feels like D Day in my head!
I keep on reading about women getting a cervical stitch, which just sounds so intrusive and risky.

I guess i'm just convinced something is bound to go wrong... but thanks for the reassuring words!

Try not to worry hun! It is hard not to I know but try and remember that millions of healthy babies are born all over the world every day so why shouldnt yours be one of them!?

you really need to stop being so negative about everything, chill out, you may not need stitches yet so just wait and see, and im sure the risk of mc is very low anyway so i wouldnt worry tooo much, you need to start enjoy yourself
