Does anyone have any advice on relaxation methods or anything they tried during IVF to stay calm, relaxed and as serene as possible?
I have read about the zita west CD but the reviews seem conflicting with some people saying they found it annoying.
I am not very good at being stress free and would like any ideas on how I can stay calm during the process? xx

A friend of mine had egg collection/transfer this week - she has been lying on the sofa, 2 pairs of socks to keep her feet warm (!!) and doing acupuncture.

I favoured diversion so I had some reading material for the operation bits themselves (as you can be waiting quite a while at the hospital) and then I watched some pre-recorded CSI episodes on the TV to pass the time through the day.

I didn't know anything about warm feet!! I am curious about that, will be reading up why for that one. I have acupuncture already and will continue that. Thanks for the tip on taking a book or magazine along, I will do that. I guess Netflix will come in handy for some relaxing movie days during the wait. I just don't want to obsess and become stressed with it all but I am a stress head by nature xx

Hey girls :-) I have heard about keepping feet warm and also your core tummy area warm too

I love reading so plan to catch up on that with a couple of days away from work oh an lots of crap tv catch up

Is the warm core thing from egg collection or once embryo transfer has been done?
I have just got the book 'Gone Girl' so may try and get through that, at the moment, my headaches are too bad to sit reading for ages but by then they should have eased xx

I'm thinking from transfter not too sure but I'm going to start from collection, gone girl is fab I read that on honeymoon x

Yeah I have heard great things about it, I love a good book-when you just don't want to put it down. So I need to have socks and hot water bottle at the ready, my OH is going to think I am bonkers lol xx

Oh yeah it's not often when you get time but I love it when you just disappear into a book :-) have you ever read Shantaram ? That's brilliant x
Lol we will look crazy x

No I haven't read that, not even heard of it. Will have a little look for it :) x

Definitely put it on your list, it's a big book, based on a true story it's fab x

Don't use any heat on your tummy area after transfer, I was advised this. Warm showers and no baths. If you can stay on your left side in bed it's great for circulation too :) wishing you lots of luck xx

We don't have a shower, only a bath!! I don't have them too hot in the 2WW anyway so I guess I will just have to do that. Thanks for letting us know about the heat xx

Yeah thanks about the heat Charlie I would have sat with a hot water bottle right on it, maybe just vests and wrap up round the core?? X

I literally got in and lay on my couch on my left side curled up with a cushion and went to sleep after my transfer. Wishing you all lots of luck xx

I kept my feet warm and also my tummy area (not too warm of course). After embryo transfer - don't know if it helped, but that embryo is almost 35 weeks now:)

Wishing you lots of luck!!

xx

Hi hun, I've had my egg collection today and I have quite a bit of pain so I would plan to have at least a couple of days where you do very little but rest and make sure you have paracetamol and a hot water bottle to hand. I think I underestimated it a bit so it's best to be prepared especially as you have a lo to look after.

I've been trying to keep my feet warm throughout treatment as they are usually cold and apparently Chinese medicine believes that your feet are linked to your womb so it's important to keep them warm xxx

I think a combination of rest and distraction is good. I know the IVF didn't work for me but I feel that I did everything I could. The first time I did a language CD for our holiday, about 45 minutes a day. Lots of rest on the couch or in the garden reading and on the internet! Not too much lying around, a few little jobs at home, walks and lunch with a friend. Also lots of cat cuddling!
Did you enjoy Gone Girl?

Thanks for the tips ladies, I will be sure to get lots of rest and have a hot water bottle ready. I plan to go for leisurely walks with the dogs, little shopping trips but no strenuous cleaning etc
I haven't started Gone Girl yet, I am waiting for egg collection time as when I enjoy a book, I can finish it within a few days and didn't want to risk finishing it before then. Have you read it? xx
