Have been growing my leg hair in the hope to get it waxed but my friend said it isnt advised during pregnancy. i rang my beautician and she said she would normally wax pregnant women if they were comfortable with it. does anyone know if it is ok? i can understand bikini area perhaps being a no go area but why not legs? will resort to the old rasor if need be though.

We have asked this before but I am sure the answer was yes to any area. You could check with jaidybaby in 2nd tri, she's a therapist :D

You can definitely still have waxing done hun, but just remember that you may be more sensitive while being pregnant.

I had my legs, bikini and underarm done for my hols when I was 22 weeks pg, and I have never felt pain like it!! And my bikini area bled! I've been having this waxed for years. My beautician said she had done a lady the day before who was 39 weeks pg, and she waxed her standing up!

Hi

i just bought a waxing kit and it didnt work very well, does this mean if i went and got it professionally done it owuld be no good?
Also how long would your hair have to be, i have to shave my legs every day thats how fast it grows , does waxing really work?

i find waxing now pregnnat hurts sooo much more

maybe im jjust being soft...

*sniff*

just wait until we're in giving birth, then we'll soon know what real pain is!

I have no idea about this, but what about the Veet waxing strips you can get, aren't they meant to be pain free, or am I naive!?

hate waxing im a baby it hurts and ive tried the wax strips and they hurt too xxx

Ive used / use the veet strips and have mixed emotions towards them. sometimes there great and they have worked a treat and left me smooth, other times they have left me with just the wax left on my skin which is a bugger to get off (baby oil works best by the way). I will say 2 things though, firstly, they do still hurt, but not as much as normal waxing, secondly, be very carfull when doing the bikini area as a few times Ive been left with what look like huge love bites the sizes of 2p's etc all over the area, where ive pulled to hard (whoops) so there is a kinda nack to it!!

Hello, im a beauty therapist and waxing is perfectly safe in pregnancy.

However, you may find you skin becomes a lot more sensitive during pregnancy due to the hormonal changes within your body.

If you are concerned ask your therapist for a patch test prior to a wax to test for any bad reaction, although the majority of ladies are fine.

We get a lot of pregnant women come into the salon for bikini waxes etc as the birth approaches so they are all neat and tidy ready for the big day!

As for Veet and the likewise, I think personally you are better off going into a salon and paying just a couple more pounds to have it done professionally, in half the time and probably half the pain! Its so tricky to wax yourself, even I have trouble and its my job.

Hair needs to be at least half an inch long for salon waxing for a clean, smooth finish.

Hope this helps girlies :D

By the way the 'love bites' you are referring to are bruises Jenny, it is where you have not stretched the skin taut enough.

This is why I recommend professional waxing, the area is so sensitive and you want to avoid as much damage as possible.
