Even tho this is my second i keep forgetting little things. I washed the baby clothes in my normal powder and i just realised i should have used non bio... i always used fairy with my first but i cannot remember when i stopped.

Should i re wash the clothes or do you all think ot would be ok?
Also...
What powder & conditioner (if any) are you all using?

I would rewash to be on the safe side. I just use Aldi's own non-bio powder, does the same thing for half the price!

I use cheap non bio from b and m bargains or persil non bio, then the asda little angels fabric conditioner. I always use half the recommended amount even on my clothes xx

Thanks ladies. I think i knew deep down id rewash lol. We dont have an aldi over here but il find something!
Are you washing all babies clothes before he/she puts them on? X

Lidl powder works just as well, hopefully there's one near you. There were loads popping up in NI when I was there up until last year.

Yup! Clothes, bedding, comforter and blankets have all had the treatment!

Were i am, we are last to get everything lol. Yep lidl is 5 mins down the road so will pop in and have a nosey xx

I just use persil non bio small and mighty x

Why non bio?
Is fabric softner not going to affect them the same as bio powder would?

You shouldn't use fabric softner when they are tiny x

I use fairy and comfort pure/fairy softener - cheap powders make hubby itch and I'm a washing powder snob :(

Used conditioner with sons newborn clothes and they were fine? Still use

In terms of washing powder/liquid they say to use non bio as there are no enzymes in it where as there are in bio products. Enzymes have the potential to irritate skin and cause rashes etc and babies skin is a lot more sensitive to irritation than adults. I believe it is the same reasoning with fabric softener. I totally forgot about comfort pure though which is fine to use as it is specially formulated for babies skin and I did use that on my daughters clothes. Funnily enough I opened my bounty pack this morning and there was some in there.

It all depends on personal preference though, some people don't even use non bio they just use normal washing powder etc. My daughter has terrible eczema though so I have to be really careful what I use on her clothes etc x

Was thinking surely they wouldn't market comfort pure and fairy with babies on if it wasn't suitable butyku never know do you.

I never used softner when i washed them just because i only had our normal stuff. Iv plenty more that needs washed but il do it after i go shopping when i get something suitable.

Going trough all these clothes is getting me so excited! 5.5 more weeks!! Also didnt realize how much id bought!!! Xx

I'm using fairy non-bio and dettol laundry cleanser - a lot of our sleep suits etc are second hand and seeing as they all say don't wash above 40 I felt the dettol was needed (wasn't sure about the dettol in terms of sensitivity but like mummybexee, there's a baby on the advert and on the bottle so I figured would be ok?)

We got so many beautiful clothes at our baby shower and passed down to us I've barely bought a thing - I've done 7 washes already!! So think we're set on the clothes front!

Xxx

I've a fair whack to get through

Dunno about washing some of the blankets though
Theyre that lovely soft fabric that i reckon will lose its fluffy softness once I've washed it xx

I wash all baby stuff on 60, doesn't do much harm to the clothes imo. Between wee, sick and poo, you need the hot temp to get rid of everything when using non-bio.

Bacteria dies at 67. So only 70+ For more than 15 seconds will make clothes germ free - 30/40/50/60 all as effective in my experience

i wash all my sons clothes apart frogm whites on a 30. Any stubborn marks have a soak in abit of vanish/stain remover and that sorts it! His clothes come back from nursery in some right states if they have been doing lots of activites or he's been eating a messy meal by himself :)

I'd also wash the blankets - no point washing everything else then leaving them? :/

Well its more im not sure i know how to wash them properly without ruining them!

I bought fairy non bio today along with comfort pure!

Put them on a delicates? Or just a normal wash - the label in each blanket will give you washing advice just like clothes :)

I use own brand non bio and surcare or any of the white baby branded softner.
Im just doing the bits for the pushchair at the moment, cosy toes/blankets etc.
it will be quite slot of the first year before I try change softners etc for baby, some if mine have been really sensitive
