Hi everyone, not too sure if the answer to this question is obvious but are you all washing the LO's clothes and bedding ready fo arrival?

yep, and all done ready.

Only thing i havn't washed at the mo is her snow coat.

Oh, and i need to wash her moses basket cover again! blooming cat!

yes done some already will prob do again .
was lovely to see baby gros on washline after all these years.
DD is 8. Kept a lot of stuff from then and the memories it brought back when we took them down from the loft was amazing .Wish i could have washed little dresses too but we dont know what this LO is

Yep washed everything thats in hozzy bag but am going to wash all the other outfits soon.

Gets rid of the starchiness that comes on new clothes and that 'shop' smell!

oooo yes this was something I enjoyed doing.. I did it at 30 weeks and have just done it all again becasue they lost their just washed smell!!!!

I've washed everything, but I washed it in normal washing liquid. We use non-biological anyway, but should I have washed baby's stuff in soap flakes or is that a myth? *confused*

I have used Fairy Non Bio with Comfort Pure fabric softner..........

Oooh - I didn't realise you had to do this?
Silly question but why? L x

I washed all my clothes and bedding to make them smell nice.. I didn't like the idea of someone else touching them in the shop with grubby hands so made sure everything was nice and clean for my little one...... also I have been told that babies have really good sense of smell and can identify their mums smell easily from others and I only wanted my smell on the baby clothes not the smell of the shop or other people.... ( this may not be true but it sounds good to me!)

There have also been reports flying round the internet of people catching things from underwear from shops that haven't been washed so all in all I decided to wash everything -also don't you find that clothes are really stiff when you get them out of a packet?? If you wash them with fabric softner then they become all nice and soft and not rough on baby's skin! :D

OMG. I'm convinced!
I'm washing everything now!
Guess what I'm doing this weekend?!

Yes I will too. We have lot's of things from OHs previous babies, so they have been in bags and things for years. It's the same with blankets and the moses cover etc. All been lying around the house or in cupboards for at least two yrs, maybe longer for some things.

How do you all wash baby clothes? I can wash normal things, but I've already ruined pair of OHs beautiful curtains his ex-wife made. I'm so worried I'll completely ruin the little delicate clothes and covers.

LOL

I washed mine on the 30 degree wash as they were not dirty... just needed freshening...... if they were dirty with sick or stains then I would wash them on a 40 degree cotton wash maybe even higher if the stains were stubborn and the label said I could go higher....... look on your machine and on the labels..... to find a program that suits... OMG I have turned into my mother!!!!!!!!!!! :D

I have friends who recomended the fabric softner but some cheaper brands can irritate sensitive skin so for babies use the gentler stuff like comfort pure or fairy sensitive....... also you need to make sure the washing detergent is non biological... Good luck!!!!!!

Oh and I tumble dried anything that could go in (blankets sleep suits etc) for that extra softness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wonderful, more money. What next?

lol about you becoming your mother. Not going to happen with me! Never!! Well I suppose some things are good about my mummy.

I've been washing for the last few days to give baby's clothes our own smell.

Just realised I need to purchase an ironing board. Well I never needed to iron my things! Damn, more work. :rotfl:
