Hi girls

Does anyone know anything about (possibly) antique vinyl records or classical music. We're trying to sell my grandfathers collection. Some of them he bought whilst abroad in the 2nd world war. we've got heaps of them.

Whats the best way to sell? Individually on ebay? As a whole collection?

Any rare ones I should be keeping an eye out for?

Im hoping to find agoldmine :oooo: ;)

Maybe find a specialist shop who will know what they're talking about? I've found eBay a bit poor for selling vinyl as everyone just wants a big bargain on there!

Yeah we can't find a local specialist :/ the trouble with living in deepest darkest wales!

Ooo I can only help with 60s onwards. I am a collector myself and was actually in midst of developing a website that you can simply type in the cereal number and would generate rarity etc. then I got a job in London and pregnant etc. lol. There are a few good books out there so maybe a trip to the library? Get one where you can search the cereal number and find the value :D

ah thanks! Theyre pre 60s, my grampa bought some of them when he was in Italy during the 2 world war!

My mum met a guy who was fundraising to get to some London classical music training school, he did a charity concert and hes really good. So she just gave them to him and said he can sell them and use the money to pay his fees. I get palpitations when I think of the possibility that there were some true rare antiques in theat collection but whats done is done!

right hunni, i just brought over 1200 off my dad for £35. you need a dealer who knows whats worth money and whats not...depends on how many you got the condition of covers and etc... it will depend on plenty of things as for rare ones if you look online for rare ones viq google and it should give you a list and go from there. good luck but you might be best writing which ones you have got and their condition. then the ones not rare put out an advert that your selling them and when people enquire give them the list and ask them to make you an offer x good luck x x x

1200 what the f you gonna do with 1200 vinyls lol!!

Sarah best bet is to simply google them all.for rarity google the title of the vinyl and for sale too see what others are buying for

Also check out vintage sites and see if you.can give them a call for advice

Eek exciting

 fapatalking

Yeah it is amazing how much some are worth! Me and My dad were going through some of his and flicking through a valuations book...we came across one in the book that would be worth £2000 and he leant it to a friend when he was younger which he never got back....he was kicking himself lol.

Ahh pants, I forgot about this.

Nice to see some other vinyl fans around and about though. We just bought a brand new in box Sony Record player for £20 to replace our older one which we then sold. It's so nice to have a quality modern one

we brought them for my brother in law as his christmas present as he was wanting buy them off my dad for the proper price, but he just brought a house so he didnt have the money to get them...was fun giving him one christmas day wrapped up and then he fell asleep after looking after the kids for 3 hours, he woke up to see 3 crates full of them x x x

They used to have record fairs in Berkshire where I lived, maybe see if a local town or city does them and get a stall. You'd want an idea of value first though of course. It would be worth a trip if you could sell a lot of them. Best of luck.
