So basically as the title says, would you ladies use your first child's newborn carseat with your second?

My daughters newborn car seat is a maxi cosi (pebble I think) with an isofix base. It's obviously never been in an accident and I know where it's been etc. For pretty much the same thing again I'd be £150-250 now for both bits.

Would you reuse your car seat or say it's better to buy a brand new one? Is it one of those things like you shouldn't use again like mattresses etc? I'm obsessing about it, 4 weeks left and I'm so unprepared

Thanks ladies. I don't know why I was so unsure I'm all for reusing baby stuff normally...My mil asked me why I'd not buy new . I was like um hello it's about £300 for the same thing I already bought? I'll just go for it. Xx

I used the same Maxi Cosi Pebble for both daughters, 2.5 years apart, and if it looks ok I'll use it for number 3 too.

"What is the lifespan of a Maxi-Cosi car seat?

Answer
We develop our car seats for an intensive use of approximately 10 years. However car seats don’t expire and the lifetime is dependent on the real use of a car seat. Car seats involved in an accident should be replaced immediately. We advise to never use a car seat whose history is unknown since it could have been involved in an accident, or have some broken, torn or missing parts. Do not leave the car seat exposed to direct sunlight for long periods and we advise to check the plastic parts regularly for damages or changes in shape or colour. The expanded polystyrene (EPS) parts of your car seat are important to guarantee the best safety performance. We advise to check the expanded polystyrene (EPS) regularly for damages."

If I still had all my son's stuff I would be reusing as much as possible. Unfortunately space wasn't something we had much of before moving here so had to get rid of everything except some clothes.

This is really helpful thanks! Xx

I'll definitely re-use. Much cheaper and still as safe.
