Hi all :)
I’ve just had a phone call from my GP’s saying they need to talk to me about my urine sample that I gave when I first met the midwife last week at my 8 week meeting with her where they did weight, height, blood, urine etc and arranged to have my proper booking in appointment.
The receptionist said it’s not urgent, but wouldn’t tell me what it could be about so I’m really worried now.
I can’t see the dr to talk about it until the 28th of November!
Does anyone know what they test for in those urine cultures? I think the midwife talked about it at the appointment but I can’t remember and my green notes are at home and I’m stressing :( :( :(

Thanks all xxx

I wouldn't worry yourself too much. The booking appointment tests are for proteins, sugar and white cells I think. They check for UTI and gestational diabetes and pre eclampsia. Everything else is done by bloods. I just had ketones in mine and I had a UTI that had turned into a kidney infection. I had to come straight in so if it's not urgent and they haven't told you to come in until your next appointment, I think you can relax hun. Do you have any symptoms? Xx

Thank you :) I’ve had relatively minor pregnancy symptoms, nausea but no sickness, sore boobs, tired.
In terms of like a UTI symptoms nothing, that’s what I thought the urine test might show, but if you had to go in straight away hopefully it’s not even a UTI and not too much to worry about?
Thanks again :)

You're welcome :)

Mine turned into a kidney infection but tbh I had a herniated disk so the symptoms I had like back pain I put down to that and didn't realise. My doctor said usually that why she brings pregnant patients in asap to try and get it incase it turns to a kidney infection. Which is more worrying in pregnancy. So I'd say your fine but if you're worried go ahead and call them about it. To put your mind at rest xx
