Just been back to see my consultant after being signed off work for high blood pressure and excess fluid around the baby. The good news is that the fluid had reduced but my blood pressure is borderline high again. Got to have it checked again on Friday and back for another scan in 2 weeks when I might get signed off again for my blood pressure.
My consultant said the baby is less likely to have something wrong with him now that my fluid has gone down and my tummy is less hard which is a massive relief. So I've just got to continue to take it easy!
On a seperate note, also got my car seat yesterday so am finally getting somewhere!!!

aww well done hun! gald things are looking up! most peoples blood pressure goes up towards the end as it is a big strain on your body isnt it! so just rest as much as you can :)

I was wondering how you were getting on. When I had my GP appointment I was told that there was a lot of fluid around baby (my BP was also sky high) but he didn't seem that concerned! Glad you're starting to feel a little better though.

xx

Thanks Wish, was your fundal height measured? My midwife measured mine and saw it was 4 cms bigger than it should be so referred me for a scan. At the scan my BP was sky high and coupled with the fluid he signed me off. Do you know what your BP was? Make sure you rest and take it wasy too!
Really don't want to go back to work in 2 weeks so am hoping to be signed off again and that will take me to when I'm due to finish work anyway!

glad ur ok Roo, hope you dont have to go back to work! Im still struggling on at 29 weeks and i have 3 weeks left :-( x

No it wasn't measured at all...he just said that he could feel a lot of fluid. My bp was something like 173/100, I had to go back the day after to have it re-done after some rest and it was down a little bit thankfully. I have another scan at 32 weeks anyway cos I've got a low placenta so he said they would check the fluid then.

Hope you're scan goes well in a few weeks and am pleased to hear that your BP went down. Mine has been fine between my last scan and today then it shot back up again!

At least if I do go back to work it's only for 4 weeks, although I have a feeling that they are going to be the longest 4 weeks of my life!

Yeah I've still got ten weeks at work and the thought of it is killing me! It's already a struggle physically and emotionally (I'm a child protection social worker and keep crying when we have to talk about possibly removing children - I've been doing it for 8 years!). It's awful the way the BP fluctuates isn't it?

xx

It's a complete nightmare, especially when you feel relaxed and then you get told it's high!!!

I know! If only there was a way to self-regulate BP. It gets to the point where you feel tense about having it done in case it's high and then that contributes to it being high!!!

xx

Glad you're ok Roo, Hopefully BP is back down again on Friday.

x

Take it easy Roo!! Good news about the fluid anyway and if BP is still erratic after being signed off for rest I'm sure he won't want to risk signing you back on again - fingers crossed! My BP has actually gone down?? I keep feeling faint and light headed but doc said that was normal? xx
