Hi all

I haven't posted in a long time, but have a fertility appointment next week, we have been trying for two years with a early loss at the very begin. At this appointment we will get back my husbands results. Ive had lap and dye which found small amount of endometriosis.

My question is, if we are diagnosed unexplained infertility, which I feel we may!! What will they do from there?

Will they leave us? give us clomid, even though I'm ovulating? Or move on to IUI,IVF?

Feel really low today, think Ive allowed myself to think that it may never happen, not thought this way before.

thanks for reading. xx

If they have found a small amount of endometriosis shouldn't that be included in your diagnosis? If you are ovulating on your own I don't think they will give you clomid as I believe it's only given if you are not ovulating.

I think they would try IUI before IVF depending on all of your results together. Even if it is unexplained there is treatment out there (whatever that may be) so try not to get too disheartened. Let us know how you get along

Hello I am in the same unexplained infertility boat as you. Without the endometriosis diagnosis but I havnt had a lap and dye just Hycosy..I dont know if Hycosy would pick that up actually..must check. We've been told next step is self funded iui or ivf as only trying two years. Tbh it's less but even our gp said to say two yrs! Going to keep trying on our own for a bit. I don't know in your case if they prescribe anything ..but just wanted to say you are not alone!

I personally just didnt ovulate at all so I was referred for IUI then IVF. Luckily the IuI was succesful. We had been tryung 2 years but the wait in scotland for procedures is ridicolous. 14 months for IUI and 2 years for IVF. This is after the years of ttc yourself. However, it was all worth it when it was a success so dont loose heart!

My sister is completely unexplained fertility and up here now they dont do IUI for unexplained anymore its straight for IVF. Dont loose hope!! I think its best to try to think every result abd referral is another step closer to your bean! Xx

Hey Hun, just to say that I ovulate on my own and will start clomid at the end of the year. My fertility appointment came through after a miscarriage and consultant said he won't do anything for 6 months because I fell pregnant, but next time I see him he will prescribe clomid. Yours may do too xx

Thanks guys, will let you know what they say. Not sure how funding works either if you have nhs funding for clomid or iui will they then still fund first attempt at IVF?

I hope what ever they offer us we don't have a long wait feel like I'm getting older an older an still childless and don't think I could cope if they said another 2 years.

I saw a clairvoyant in january who said I would need fertlity treatment but would be pregnant with twins by the end of the year!

So just an update, they said it was secondary infertility because of misscarriage and even though I do ovulate levels of 34, 32 and 64 at 21 days, he has started me on 50mg clomid days 2-6 for four cycles. He is confident that this will boast ovulation and release more eggs.

So I start next cycle. Next step would be assisted iui.

Wish me luck xx

Good luck! Glad you have a positive way forward. We are continuing on by ourselves for a bit ..Maybe two months..then iui. I was hoping things would come good after the hsg but losing faith already. Anyway have a long weekend away ahead so time to forget all this ttc nonsense and have some fun I think...

Hope it works out for you Xx

Thanks star101, enjoy your weekend away think trying not to focus on ttc is the way forward!! It's enough to drive you insane!! Be interested to know how you get on with iui this will be our next step.

We had to pay because the delay caused by having all the tests put me over the threshold for free treatment! So it was up to us what we went for first. The consultant said go straight to IVF to give us the best chance but I was too daunted by that, so wanted to try clomid and then IUI first to get used to less invasive treatment first. Also my progesterone is borderline so I wanted clomid to make sure I definitely ovulated and IUI so that they could pick the best sperm (DH's morphology is on the lower side of average). The consultant said that was fine as long as we started straight away and didn't have any breaks between treatment cycles because time wasn't on my side! They weren't successful but it was worth a try.
We've now started our 2nd IVF cycle.
So I would definitely recommend trying IUI first because it works for load of people. Sounds like you are doing the same as me. Good luck!
