Unbelievable tax credits!!! So angry!

I don't know if anyone else has had anything like this happen to them but... I get my tax credits paid weekly every Friday to my bank account and most of it is Childcare Element I pay Brandon's nursery with. It has been fine for a year or so, no problems at all until today when the money wasn't there. I called them up and they said there is some sort of an error on my account and the specialist team are dealing with it. I need to pay the nursery fees by Monday and no one there cares or knows what's going on. They don't know why the error is there or how long it's gonna take - I called my local council, job centre, everyone... What am I supposed to do...?!

can you speak to the nursery and see if they don't mind if the payment is a bit late cos it's out your hands? Hope you get it sorted soon xx

Well I am not so sure, he goes to a private childminder so... Probably not so often... I hate money problems, all the bills are due and now more worries. I feel so stressed I don't know what to do. Feels really hopeless at times.

we havent even started getting tax credits yet and already i am amazed by what is a truly messed up and rubbish system

First liam phoned up to claim, took 1/2 an hour for him to speak to someone, that person then filled in a form over the phone but couldnt accept his passport number, NI number and driving licence number as proof of who he was.

So then someone phones up, when they know Liam is at work but fortunatly i was here, that person makes Liam an appointment to go to the jobcenter and prove his identity

he goes to the job center, they PUT A TICK IN A BOX and send him away

he then has to phone BACK the Tax Credits hotline, is on hold for half an hour, gives them the password that he was given by the other tax credits people in person...

and they tell him he is elligable to 'recieve a form in the post which he will have to send back in'

GAH! Really, did it really need that much jumping through hoops - could he not have done it all with the woman in the jobcenter? Really!

seriously screwed system and its quite obvious to me where vast portions of public money is going needlessly, thats a good 4 people to do the job of one!

Tax credits, always confuse me they either miss my payment or it's late! I'm like I've got food to buy and no money to buy it with, what are you going to do? They go go and apply for a crisis loan which I now have to go to the job centre to do

I've only ever had one problem with tax credits and that was because a form we had to sign and send back arrived late due to the bad snow so they cancelled our payments, not that we get alot but I phoned back and they started the claim straight away!! The only thing that has annoyed me about tax credits is I phoned up to complain about someone falsely claiming that she was single when in fact she's married and they both work but nothings been done about it and this person still brags about playing the system!! But hey that's another rant!! Grrr

I hate people that do that! Maybe you should write a letter as well loads of
people like me and my other half need the money she is gettig falsley - could you
imagine how much would be saved if something was done about every complaint yet they are quick enough to take are money off of us when they accidentally pay us too much! Garrr!! Rant rant lol!

I've even filled in the online fraud form on the tax credit website with details about them but still nothings been done! This was about 3-4 months ago now!! Whenever I say to her I'm struggling with money she tells me to do the same!! I don't bloody think so! I work hard for my money, always have, always will!!

Yep, you should definatly report people doing benefits fraud!

Tax credits drive me mad! we have not had anything for a year as they overpaid us, and yet they had every notification of changes from us, as we always tell them, like when I got a bonus etc, oh got a pay rise, yet they sktill overpaid apparently! so we don't get it till it cancels itself out. Then I dropped from fulltime to part time for three weeks and work full time for one week from november last year, so I was hoping this would adjust and get us back tok zero and so we can get it again. We are still sorting out the paperwork with them,as they say I have a work benifits sheme! before getting paid! nightmare! then I get a latter saying all changes to claim need tok be done before july or loose it! What I don't get anything!!!

Well I've have alot of problems to but sorry going to bore you all!! We only got 21 pound a month till last year and that was even a hassle to get!! The amount of time i rang up to complain. Recently i rang to renew our claim and was told "I cant go any further with this phone call as i don't think you can prove your identity!! I have to wait for a phone call then go to the hm tax bloody place to prove i am who i say i am!!!! ARGGGG!"Well after waiting over a week for this phone call I rang back, i told a nice fella what she told me and he said there is no problem, asked for her name and what time i rang then processed my renew claim. Good job as we have bills to pay! I don't no what a fuck up! x

what is all this about proving who you are over the phone?! I work for the NHS and dont demand patients proove who they are before discussing their therapy. Good GRIEF!

Liam couldnt prove who he was with his national insurance number, passport number AND driving licence number, he had to be phoned (while he was at work but fortunatly they let me make the booking) and book to go down to the job center where he was given a password to 'prove' he existed

then he had to phone up again and wait for them to send out the bits.

Nightmare it really has been - i hope they backdate it...
