As some of you are aware, I had a sad weekend, during which my GHD straighteners died ( ) as did our laptop ( ).

Well......DF bought our new laptop yesterday :cheer: then hogged it all night so I couldn't come out to play, and promised to have a word with santa to see if he can sneak some GHD's into my stocking.

I was just pootling around ebay to see how much they are atm, as my last pair I bought 3 years ago, and found this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ghd-Hair-Straight ... dZViewItem

(sorry if I've stretched the screen with that link  )

Well, thats exactly what has happened to mine!!! Why would someone buy old broken GHD straighteners........and why would they pay so much for them? I was gonna donate mine to the tip, think I'll be putting them on ebay now!!! Is it really worth repairing them when they are so old????

people are stupid mate ha ha

carefull on ebay as believe it or not there are LOADS of fake GHD's on ebay, lots of them a copes from china etc.

Besides I bought mine from an online authorised dealer (they come with the proper hologram etc so you know there real!) and there same price as most buy it nows on ebay that are not guranteed!!

Here is where I got mine from

http://www.jasonshankey.co.uk/dsp_Produ ... eners.html

Think I paid the extra tenner though at £85 and got some GHD protection spray for my hair and a heat mat which is a god send for leaving them to cool down on!

Oh and they are the new batch ones 3.1b (as labled inside) which are the ones that dont blow up ha ha

yeh thats why I got a heat mat as at my old room at mums the carpet is burned to shreds where Ive left them on when Ive gone out (supprised I didnt start a fire lol)

Oooh....I defintely need a heat mat too!!

I just thought it was incredible that someone would buy old broken ghd's....Will see what I get for mine, nothing ventured nothing gained!!

I might even copy this guys auction as it seemed to have worked!!!

Thanks for the links girls!!) x

These are top of DD's xmas list so been looking round for a good pair. Will remember the tip about the heat mat as her carpet has an iron burn in where she was "ironing her hair"

wow can't believe people are bidding on them :rotfl: :rotfl:

hevs getting ghd's for crimbo, her last straightners melted and fell apart

I saw these on ebay too and wondered why anyone would want them. My GHD's also blew up and my dad fixed them, they were good as new. I lent them to my auntie about 2 years ago and forgot about them. I need a bit of extra money for Christmas so I asked for them back so I could sell them but she has given them away  or thrown them out   she can't remember!! :x

i had ghd's when they first came out, but after about a year they actually blew up while i was using them, im meaning big blue flash and fire (right by my hair!!!! ) GHD wouldnt fix them as they said it was down to genral wear and tear. BTW they sometimes fix them after the warrenty has run out, so e-mail them first, my friend got 2 replacement pairs (1 normal and 1 wide pair ) and loads of ghd products, but i think thats because the ones she bought were from a faulty batch :? .
ive got a pair of H2D ones now, just as good as GHD (both heat up to 210c) and they only cost £30 from ebay, ive had them for about 2 years and no problems with them at all :cheer: .

EDIT:Woo hoo, sorry just noticed that was my 300th post!

have you checked out the ghd website itself?

i got mine around 2 years ago from there near christmas and as a gift pack I got a heat mat and one of the straightening sprays free :cheer:

Yeh thats what I got from the Jason Shankey website for £85 as a birthday pressie, Straightners, Heat Mat and GHD protection stratening spray. Where as for the irons alone on the GHD direct site there £99.

I did lots of looking and Jason Shankey was the cheapest reputable online retailer of GHD's £75 for the irons only.

Oh and if you check out the watchdog link I posted, loads of the early models blew up hense why they were investigated!!

Yeah I read that link Jen.... I feel lucky mine didnt blow up on me.....I've had them for about 3 years!! So they will fall into the category quite easily!!

mmmm.....got me thinkin now, don't know what to get!!! Think I'll get GHD's but go for the package with the heat mat and the oil, will knock what we get for my old ones off what DF has to pay for my new ones (I feel like a spoilt child) as it was he who bought my old ones cos I was whinging so much about my frizzy hair all those years ago. Bless him!! Think he just wanted some quiet time instead of me stropping about my 'dodgy hair' all the time

:rotfl:

i love my GHDs they are a godsend, i got a free mat and spray with mine too from the GHD website and they cost £89.95

I really miss my GHD's, gonna get me some more really soon, can't cope with constantly wearing my hair back for too much longer......although on the bright side at least it is long enough to tie back.....just.......this time last month I would have needed about 20 grips to hold it back!!! Imagine the stress if I had to wear it down and my GHD's broke

Have listed my faulty ones on ebay.......I hope they go for more than 99p now, even though I would have chucked them before today, I wanna get more for them now I've seen other people get a good price for them?!?!?

Well I out them on ebay yesterday, and so far in less than 24 hours of them being on, I have 8 watchers, and have had 4 offers from people - 1 x £10/ 2 x £20 & 1 x £25!!!!

I've told them I'm leaving them on auction......watch this space....who said you couldn't get money for old rope - or whatever the saying is

my ex brought mine for me the xmas B was conveived :rotfl: 100 pound

i would not pay that much for broken hair straightners lol
