Had swelling in hands & feet for a few weeks now, occasionally it gets very sore & my hands/feet throb & get pins & needles.

Since last night my hands/feet are like ballons & are very sensitive feeling with lots of numbness & tingling. Really sore today & i'm struggling to use them at all (i'm drinking a cup of tea thro a straw as I cant grip the cup). I take it this is normal?

As if I need any more aches & pains to add to the list

Oh you poor thing that sounds awful, I don't think it should be so bad that you have to drink through a straw and still struggle, I think you should go to your GP or maybe ring the midwife and tell them xxxxx

No, I don't think thats normal at all hun. I think you should phone your mw xxx

I don't think that is normal either. I would call your midwife or GP! xx

Hun swelling can also be a sign of pre eclampsia so you should really call your mw...they will ask you to go down to be checked out probably :) may be nothing but best to get checked xxxx

No dear swelling is not normal i think you must consult youe midwife as soon as possibble.Dont take for granted........react to it as soon as possibble.

I had a MW appointment 3 days ago & I told her about the swelling & the pins & needles & numbness but tbh she didn't ask anything else & I dont really know why she asked. I presumed from that it was something normal.

I've had this on & off & my BP has always been normal!

I dont have a number for my MW but I have an enquiries type number for the hospital (maternity bit) I will maybe call them & see what they say.

I did read that if you get swelling on your face its very important to go in. but i've not got that.

Thanks everyone

:)

sounds like it could b carpel tunnell which is common in pregnancy but does ease as the day goes on give the hospital a ring to b on safe side xxx#

Its kinda like - see that way if you've been sitting/lying on your hand & u get pins & needles but its sore/numb for a while til you move your hand about, well its like that, except the constant numbness/pain bit.

I had this at 38 weeks and I just called straight to delivery suite who got me to come in straight away for bloods and a trace. Everything was fine, but if you're worrying give them a call, it's never worth risking it hun xxx

would give the hospital a ring does sound more likely carpel tunnell but better to b safe than sorry. Know u have already mentioned it to midwife but cant hurt to double check !!! xx

Hun, you need to give the hosp/midwife a ring! Swelling to that degree can be a sign of pre eclampsia! It's really important to get it checked out as soonas! Hope everythings ok xx

Does sound dodgy to swell so much, hope your ok and get checked out x

Defo go to the hospital babe it doesn't need to be in ur face too if ur hands n feet r that bad u need it checked don't wait!

oh wow... Some swelling can be normal, but this sounds really bad!! I would get it checked out hun xx

Thanks ladies, the soreness & numbness went away this afternoon & not had it again, just my usual swelling. I've spoken to OH & if it comes back in the morning he's gonna stay in tomoz incase I need to go get checked, so he can watch wee 1.

Fingers crossed it stays away

Hopefully it will stay away keep ur feet up as much as possible and if it comes back go get checked ASAP but I'd still call ur mw for advice tomorrow to be safe x

Hope it stays away, just try to rest as much as you can x

Thanks girls,

I'm not blowing my own trumpet loool but I have been super busy this week. Finish up on Mat leave next week tho, thank god.

My body has been desperately crying out for some rest & I haven't been doing it.
