Hi ladies
Me & my partner have been TTC for 10-11 months now. April will be a year since I came off my contraceptive pill.
When I say TTC I mean not preventing, I have charted my periods and ovulation for the past 10 months & still no postlitive result.

I am 26 and my partner is 27. No children from either of us have been produced yet. as of yet I haven't taken any vitamins or even bought an ovulation kit as I feel it would stress me out to much & my periods are nearly always bang on, but now I'm starting to think maybe I should try some health kicks & see if this will help.

Last month (Feb) we have Dtd before, during & after I was due to ovulate every other day just to cover all areas. My boobs have been sore the last couple of days but I no that's normal during ovulation.

I know some ladies claim that they can sense it straight after conception. Currently 4/5dpo so in the two week wait..again. Loosing hope a little but any advice appreciated :)

Becky Xx

Hi Becky,

i came off the pill and caught within 4 months, we were not trying to conceive as in tracking etc just enjoying it and hoping mother nature would work her magic and she did.

i myself am 26 and my partner is 44 this year, he has children, but due to his age, lifestyle and the fact i had anorexia when i was younger we werent sure we would even manage to have a baby. but here we are :)

the midwife tells you take folic acid whilst trying to conceive and during the first tri.

i hope you catch soon :) xx

Hi leigh

Thank you for your advice. It's nice to hear that's amazing news congratulations to you both.

I've been looking online at over the counter vitamins etc. Apparently the pre conception pregnacare one is supposed to be good so I may give it a go now and start properly trying TTC rather than just having sex & hoping for the best even though I know that's supposed to be the best way!

I have no health problems & as far as I'm aware neither does my partner so it does get a bit frustrating but I'm sure when the time is right it will happen

:) xx

Hi bexta, I took folic acid too. This is a good idea before and after conception for 2-3 months either side if possible. I also cut back on caffeine and limited my alcohol intake too. I'm healthy too and exercise regularly. Not sure how much evidence there is out there regarding this but wanted to give myself the best chance as I am 41 so need as much help as possible! We are luck as we have two already who are 11 and 9 and we conceived these within 2 months...just having fun. This time around I have been charting as wasn't sure if and when I was ovulating due to my age. I have learned a lot about my body over the last couple of months and have found this ok....it hasn't stressed me out. I suppose in a way I quite enjoyed doing it....but maybe that's because I am geeky! My af arrived this morning after it being 3 days late which never happens. Got my hopes up! What I have learned is to not read too much into symptoms as they overlap with pms significantly! I am trying to take a more relaxed approach this time around......but time will tell.....not sure if I will manage this ha ha! good luck with ttc, I hope your journey to conception is s quick one x

Thanks melly

It does seem like it makes a difference from what people are saying so I'm going to give it a go!
There's nothing wrong with charting in my opinion just makes you more organised ha ha & if your trying then it's all you can do.

We're you taking folic acid before your first two also?

X

i wasnt taking folic acid before hand and i managed to catch.

there is nothing wrong with charting, i was lucky as my AF was very regular and i bled for 4 days, i had no idea about ovulation etc until i joined the forum by this time i was already pregnant.

i feel very lucky to be pregnant and i love reading peoples journeys through TTC and i hope you both get your BFP soon, Melly i am following you on symptom spotters as i used to be on there!

Thanks leighwiltshire. I am a self confessed SS, despite my attempts not to be! Congratulations I hope heading into your 2nd trimester (?) you'll benefit from all it has to offer....I remember 2nd trimester feeling great and my skin, hair and overall physical well being being much better than the first trimester! X

Hi Melly! i was terrible i suffer from bleeding as well so i was even worse! i still do it now i worry about every little twinge!

im in tri 3 as from tomorrow! and i have still not had my bloom haha, spotty, bloated and on my 4th Cold of the pregnancy YEY for me!

we are going to buy the pram tonight all being well :) xx

How exciting...I remember buying our first pram and feeling like it was really happening! Maybe third trimester will suit you better? We had our pram erected for a couple of weeks when we first bought it...kept getting in the way but we loved imagining our baby inside it....a few weeks later and he was there! Then his sister followed so she got the hand me down pram! She didn't care though at the time! Ha ha! Have fun shopping tonight!

Thanks melly

Yes for I think for a couple of months before hand and then three months after...I couldn't have gotten away with it as married to a doctor! Didn't get any side effects but it is recommended as helps to prevent neural tube defect. Many people catch pregnant very quickly or pregnancy wasnt planned and have not had chance to take it for the 3 months preceding, so if you haven't, as long as you start taking it now you'll be fine. Charting is fairly easy once you get the hang of it. I use one on countingdowntopregnancy.com. Can also keep a track of your tww symptoms so you can compare months and you can also create your own ticker!
