Hi all, I'm new to the forum and am looking for some support, stories or info. My husband had a vasectomy when he was with his previous partner. Back on 11th July this year, he had it reversed (just under a year after our wedding) I am 31, he is 46. He has gone 15 years rougly with the vasectomy. He is a little late with his 6 weekly sperm analysis, but we are waiting for it to come through any time soon...the wait is absolutely KILLING me though. Impatient, yes, but i'm desperate to know if there are any live and healthy sperm there. I bought him some Fertilisan M from Germany, he has been taking it since just before the op... The consultant said he did see sperm on one side during the op, so hopefully that is a plus side. Have been told we only stand a 10% chance of success due to the length of time since the vasectomy...
An odd question...did anyone notice a change in the smell of the semen after the VR...my hubby's semen smelled really strong BEFORE VR..... Now it seems to not smell so bad. I've tried to look around and most people say the smell is stronger after VR... Weird how his is the other way around, unless I'm losing my sense of smell!
I have recently bought a 20 pack (2 month supply) of the Ovulation Test Kit by Clearblue - My cycles can vary - using a tracker the last ones were:
Mar-April = 35 Days
Apr-Jun = 45 Days
Jun-Jul = 35 Days
Jul-Aug = 34 Days
Going by the last date, I counted the days from day one of my period and started testing on day 16 (4th September) - going by the instructions of first urine after longest sleep. My tracker app had estimated O-day as 13th September (based on average cycle of 38 days), so I wasn't expecting anything until late this week....
Test on Thurs (4th) came back as negative as expected, but then Friday's came back with flashing smiley....Saturday gave me a static smiley! My hubby and I have been intimate on Friday, Saturday and Monday...
What I really want to know, is, can I get a false reading through stress? Have been really upset by something the last couple weeks, so bit unsure if the results are false...
I have carried on testing as planned (using total of 10 strips) - Monday came back negative, as did Tuesday, Wednesday and today show flashing smiley again. I'll go up to Saturday and see if any more results come back.... or P starts. After Sat I'll wait a couple weeks to see if I start my cycle.
I saw it mentioned elsewhere that this second surge could just be the tail end of previous surge....rather than a second surge where the egg may be released. I've just bought a basal thermometer too but have little idea how to use it or how to find out what my luteal phase is or how long it lasts... Also just bought pregnacare pills for myself to get early start on folic acid etc
This baby-making malarkey is a total MINEFIELD! With his reversal, my cycles, both of us are a bit overweight...I feel the odds are stacked against us.
Anyone have any success stories or advice on anything else I/we can do to improve our chances, beyond what we already are doing?
