I need some advice very new to this all.

My husband and I had decided to try for a baby, I have been on the microgynon for 6 years and took 5 tablets from the most recent pack when we decided to come off the pill. I have had a withdrawal bleed and was wondering if I would be ovulating this month or whether I will have to wait for my proper period which would be due on December 30th before I then ovulate in January. (Sorry if this all sounds stupid)

Are you going to try to track ovulation using opks or temping? It can take time for cycles to settle but you can ov straight after coming off the pill. Good luck x

I am going to try and track ovulation but not sure how! I’m also not great at all these abbreviations

It can take some a few months before they ovulate regularly. Hope everything works out for you. Good luck!

EDIT: The abbreviations are tough, took me a while to get a hang of them. Have had to google a lot heh.

You can get pregnant after your withdrawal bleed. If you do opk's you will know when you ovulate as you won't be in a regular cycle.
When I come off the pill I had my withdrawl bleed then didn't have a natural bleed until 43 days later. So you really cannot tell if you will come on the 30th or not. X

I personally have only tracked ovulation (ov) using opks - they're similar to a pregnancy test strip but they look for a different hormone. You will get a positive (where the test line is stronger than the control) just before you ov although this method doesn't confirm it has actually happened. You can get cheap test strips from the internet to try first or there's clear blues which are more expensive. Temping is when you check your base temperature every morning at the same time. It's not something I've done or that I know a lot about.
When I came off the pill I didn't have a withdrawal bleed for about 5 weeks and the next couple of cycles have been different so I've not settle yet x

It’s worth seeing if you settle into some sort of pattern if you’re trying to track ovulation. So, I’m throry you could ovulate anywhere after10 days from this withdrawal bleed.
The follicular phase of women’s cycles vary greatly as individuals, the luteal phase should last 14 days for each woman (extremely small minority differ from the 14 Day rule).
Opk ‘s are ovulation predictor kits. They are like pregnancy tests but are designed to defect the leutenisinghormone instead of the hcg pregnancy hormone.
As for abbreviations.... we used to have a list somewhere  will try to find it.
Good luck on your journey x

Thank you everyone m!! Think I need to source some of these opks

For your first month, I would give 'one step' ones a go, off Amazon. You can order 50 for about £5 I think! They come with instructions on how to do them, I always did them after work when I got in.
