wow! brilliant to hear about these babies. im so happy i have goosebumps!! really happy to hear they are all getting ther, albeit slowly. these preemies do take their time!
ami-grace is certainly taking her time, she has had all the problems a preemie can have. they arent taking her off cpap, they are pioneering a new idea brought on by a new study at lgi where they leave them on it and wean the pressures down so shes on constant. she had laser eye surgery 2 weeks ago which was awful for me because she had an aggressive form of ROP and they said she may be blinded by it. as it happens, he thinks he caught it in time and shes gonna be ok, her peripheral vision may be affected but she will be 'normal' and be able to do everything as any other child would.
shes still on constant feeds and because of the chronic lung disease its taking a lot of time. she keeps getting infections that zap all her energy and ive been warned she may take a long long time to get well enough to breath without oxygen but i take things in my stride as best i can cos i dont want to end up a jibbering wreck.
im confident she will get there. shes 1.4kg now, quite a bit heavier than the triplets but they are having to put tings in her milk to get her to gain quicker cos shes 11 weeks now and hasnt even doubled her birthweight,
hopefully there will be no more set backs for her.
really pleased for the triplets. they are in my thoughts a lot, thanks so much for the update.xx
