So I tried introducing the aptamil 2 (extra hungry) milk to Layla's diet today as she has been feeding like a maniac recently and has been fussing inbetween feeds. She took the bottle as normal but since then she has had diarrhea 3 times in one afternoon :? Do their tummy's need time to adjust or is it just an adverse reaction to something in the milk? I'm going back to the Aptamil 1 for now but I wondered whether it is worth trying introducing it again slowley? Any suggestions/advice would be great. Also should i be concerned about the diarrhea?

Changin formula can cause LO's to have upset tummys yes, so it could be that but generally they do settle down after a while. I would discuss it with your HV maybe, as her feeding could be a growth spurt issue, rather than her needing hungrier baby, but obviously yourself and your HV know her patterns and weight etc and I don't  As long as she is drinking she should be allright with the diarrhoea as the biggest issue with it is dehydration, but again, call NHS Direct if you're worried, they are trained to support in these situations  Don't know if that helped but very best wishes with it

I cahnged mt Lo's formula brand and she didn't exactly have diarrhoea, but she did poo loads for the first week or so (every hour or so) and it was runnier than it had been! TMI I know. THe HV said this was normal and to give it a while to settle down, that was 3wks ago and she is fine now.

It is possible that your lo's tummy might need a few days to adjust to the change.

As for the increased appetite and the fussing; it could be wind or maybe a massive growth spurt.

Hopefully her wee tummy will settle down and you can try her on the hungry baby milk again, if you feel that's what she needs.

Keep us updated. xxx
