I think I'm going to try everything even if they are old wives tales! As soon as he's full term I'll be having a mc d's milkshake and hot thai green curry for dinner...along with some pineapple, a walk and sex haha. Anything to end this discomfort!! At least I can say I tried!! xx

Friends of mine who have gone over 40 weeks have tried all the tricks but nothing worked for them. I think baby just comes when it's ready. x

I agree, ive tried stuff and nothing i think when ppl try stuff and do go into labour they say it workedbut how do we know it wasnt just there time to go into labour, my baby has no sign of leaving.... x

I went to the cinema, had the nachos with the spicy peppers and came home dtd, by 6am the following morning my waters had gone. Had a really fast labour- was 3cm at 2pm and she was born 3 hours and 5 mins later with just gas and air!! Xxx

Had a parent craft class this morning and the mw there said that massaging your breast downwards and squeezing it with a firm pressure could kick start labour as it tricks your milk into being let down and therefore your brain produce oxitocin (sp?) which can bring on contractions and labour.

I'm going to get milking at 37 weeks! ha ha! xx

When I had false contraction thingies on Sunday, one thing I did notice was that my nipples were agony, throbbing. They've been fine since though. So I think there is obviously a link between the hormones being released and nipple/breast manipulation rather than it just being one of those old wives' tales xx

Apparently you have to do it for a good while, until you get some colostrum out for it to have any real effect. MW said to make a 'C' shape with your hand (think lego hand) and squeeze at 12 and 6 on a clock face on (above and below your nipple quite high up the breast) then kinda drag that down to your nipple. Literally like you are 'stipping' the milk - think milking a cow!! Then try at 9 and 3 and other positions on a clock face.

Definitely give them a good massage first and maybe a bath beforehand. I had to hand express when Fin was born and ended up with massively bruised boobs! Ow! Xx
