Travelling and phones...?

I need your help!

I am going to turkey on Monday. The hotel has free Internet. Do I need to do anything like call my service provider to be able to use my iPhone there for calls and Internet?

I'm clueless lol

It will probably change automatically but it will be at a higher rate I think. Double check the charges with your phone provider before you go though Hun xx

I was wondering this, I would definately check as I've seen horror stories of people being charged thousands while abroad because they didn't turn off their roaming function (or something like that?!!) x

Thanks ladies. Just didn't want to get there and all of a sudden have no means of communication.

I plan to skype home (hubby staying to look after new pups and I'm going with kids, my mum, auntie and her kid lol) so its the internet I need most. Puoor hubby doesn't even like dogs that much. I feel so guilty but my mum is paying so I can'tsay no haha

omg my friend had a £600 bill for her iphone for ONE week!!!! cos all the apps run on internet 24/7 , she now bought a £10 phone asnd stuck her sim card in it just for phoning and texting!! xxx

You should normally be able to use the hotels wi-fi internet through your phone for free but calls and 3g etc will normally be charged more.

Where you going in Turkey? The weathers gorgeous there today but theyve had a really rainy May .. hope it improves for you xx

We live about an hour n half from gumbet.. you may of heard of altinkum and we live just by there. The weathers been nice the last 2 days so the hubby says so hopefully its perked up for you. Hope you have a fab time.. If my boys passportts come this week then ill be off next week too

Hi if it says free interent it probably means Wi-Fi. Be careful if you do use apps that download automatically though because if you aren't connected to the Wi-Fi it will download over the 3g connection and this will get charged at your networks data rate for aborad and can be hugely expensive.
