Hey ladies

Have started to look at travel systems, anyone got any recommendations? There's too much choice, I'm lost

Went to john lewis and mamas and papas, really like the icandy ones, anyone have one? What are they like?

Do you think the carrycot part is worth getting?

Thanks ladies, I'm confused by it all haha.

Xx

We are looking at getting a full travel system with the carry cot this is because were not going to get a moses basket and if baby doesn;t settle in the cot then we can place the carry cot in the cot so baby will kind of get used to it but still be snug.

Also it will help to have this so when I am doing housework and stuff I can carry baby round in it :)

(I think also Ijust like the idea of having everything being as it's my first but hubby's 2nd lol)

Thanks hun! I'm not sure about the moses basket either, we are being given a crib so maybe carrycot would be good to have instead of a moses basket as you say.

The carrycots are better for babies back as it is lying flat hunny in the pram :) I see so many people over using car seats and my sister had her little boy in hers so much and daughter. My HV advised against using one inside the house x

Thanks hun, I thought that about the car seat, didn't think they were meant to stay in them too long, I would like to do a lot of walking with baby so I guess will need the carrycot

Have no idea what travel system to go for though.

I like the look of the stokke xplory and the bugaboo chameleon. Though hubby really wants one with 3 wheels for some reason so they may be out of the question lol.

Torino, I saw the bugaboos in john lewis but didn't really fancy it, don't think I've seen the stokke one, will have a google. Don't fancy a 3 wheeler myself, what's the difference in the 3 wheelers? Is it just the way they look? X

He reckons they are easy to steer nurse. I'm not sure that is entirely true myself but hey ho!

I also like the quinny buzz but my cousin tells me it is really heavy :(

Ah I see, will have to have a wee go at one in a shop. Weight is def an issue, really don't want something too heavy

Anyone know if the icandy ones are heavy?

I am very new to all this, but I really like the look of this one by John Lewis: http://www.johnlewis.com/231347877/Product.aspx It looks nice and compact but still sturdy. However they haven't been out for long so don't know whether they last and if there are good reviews!

I think I'm going to get a carrycot and use it for the baby's bed for the first couple of months. We are tight on space so if things can be multifunctional then all the better! xx

Hey Nurse :)

We got the quinny buzz 3. There was a fab deal on at babies r us (there is one at parkhead and govan) where you got the carrycot, pushchair, maxi cosi car seat, foot muff and rain covers for about £520 I think.

The pram centre (although I didn't rate the customer service) is worth a visit as they match any deal and are just down near the barrowlands.

I've got a Britax travel system and it's really good cos it wasn't too expensive. It's a 3 wheeler which I always hated the look of but it's nice. I only used the carry cot for about 3 months and then Louie got far too big for it, the push chair has a lie flat position for when he's sleeping. As for a Moses basket, Louie only slept in his for 6 weeks. For the next baby I might just get a crib so it will last a bit longer. X

Thanks laura, will take a trip to the pram centre and babies r us too.

Emma, that's very interesting I think we will just skip the moses basket, seems a bit of a waste as we are being given a crib and will just get a carrycot with travel system.

Where in Scotland are you nurse?? There's a pram mart?? - cant quite remember the shop name - just down the road from the babies r us at Govan, they were brilliant - you can go in and play with everything.

We've got for the silver cross sleep over for a few reasons.

I wanted one that looks like a pram - rather than some of the more modern style ones like the quinny etc.
The car seat is attatched to the frame - not the pram - some travel systems you cant attatch the car seat if you have it in lie flat mode - so you kinda need to decide before you go out if ur attatching the car seat or putting bubs in the pram.

Also we have quite a high boot - although big - and this one seperates into carry cot/pram, and frame which makes it lighter to lift.

if you think so some of the things you want it to do - like is a parent facing "buggy" bit important/ do you want an isofix car seat, etc. - that will remove some of the choices.

most important is go play with one you like the look of - cos then you'll find bits that you dont like, and you can narrow it down further.

I_maclean, I'm in glasgow east end so govan not too far, will deffo take a trip to that pram mart so I can compare lots.

I guess the most important things is it can face both ways and the car seat clips to the frame as you say, lightweight, don't have huge boot.

Great advice hun, not looked at any silvercross ones yet either.xx

hey nurse! i'm 99% sure i'm getting the icandy peach :) im considering the bugaboo chameleon as well but i really think the icandy looks better. im def getting the carrycot bit, i would say you will need this hunny.

icandy are about to bring out the 'strawberry' which looks great but keeps getting delayed. i'm holding off on my buggy until after 24th november as there is a demonstration of the icandy strawberry at my local john lewis! xx

We have been looking at a Britax one on Kiddicare, Here is the link:

http://www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs...cm_mmc=HookLogic-_-On+Site-_-Advert-_-Product

I really like it and it looks quite comfy and has good reviews, only problem is I want to see it!!! but I can't find anywhere locally that sells it!!

plus it's purple my favorite colour, I figure bug isn;t gonna care about the colour for at least the 1st few years lol :)

I have an i candy cherry which is soo lovely and light, I got the carry cot as I like the idea of the little guy lying flat when we are out and about plus can be used as a moses basket thing inside as we have a crib. I tried the strawberry and really didnt like it in comparison to the cherry as it was a lot heavier and bulky in comparison.
xxxx

Thanks pos, I have no idea what type of icandy it was I liked as at the time I didn't know there were different kinds, doh!

We will prob wait till january before we actually buy one anyways, I'm sure just trying to decide is going to take that long!

What colour are you going for? I love the dark purple colour :)

Thanks mrsN, will take a look at cherry as weight is quite important to us

Bellariven, purple is my fave too, just have to convince hubby! Xx
