Trying to book travel insurance for Thailand end of April. I obviously hope to be pregnant by then but I won't know and seeing as it's been a long road so far not looking likely but ...What would happen to insurance as you can't see in to future? Also is that zika virus risk in Thailand? Hmmm

Not sure about zika think it was just south America that was high risk. Insurance I wouldn't think would matter you just might have to declare that you are pregnant to them before u travel if u are x

Thanks !I just wasn't sure. Fat chance of getting pregnant now it's been 1 year but a girl can dream:nap:

I don't know about zika virus but I don't think travel insurance would be an issue. I would read the small print to check if you'd need to declare you were pregnant in case you had any issues while you were out there.

Ahh it says on government site its moderate risk for zika virus and shouldn't go pregnant or get pregnant post 6 months travel from there ....oops? Hmmm

A girl I know was told 1 year for ivf but her letter came in 6 months later and she is going to be in a zika zone so now has to defer 6 months post travel... I'd be annoyed if I've waited all this time to be told I habe to wait 6 months longer. Also unsure what to do if I get pregnant before we go to thailand or after. I have basically messed up big time booking Thailand it seems!! I didn't think kt was a zika risk area:wall2:

I work for a medical assistance company and we work on behalf of several travel insurances.
If your health changes before travelling just give them a ring a few days before and declare any medical conditions that you may have. You don’t normally have to declare pregnancy as long as it’s not high risk.

We haven’t had any Zika virus cases in Thailand so I wouldn’t worry! I hope this helps! Message me if you have any questions xx

I travelled when pregnant last Jan, I asked them if they needed to change the policy and they said as long as midwife was happy they didn't need to know. I went between 24-26 weeks pregnant.

Not that I know of, I mean, you can’t ever be 100% sure of course, but we haven’t had any cases of Zika in Thailand since I started working in this industry 5 years ago...

I think you just need to do what feels right at the time. You can't put your life on hold. Thailand will be amazing.

If u sensible without mosquito bite prevention u should be fine from what I have just read. So long as you not pregnant cos it's chemical....get yourself some strong ass deet spray and just wear long sleeve and trousers at dusk to avoid getting bitten. I get badly bitten wherever I go. Record was 30 bites per leg when we went on safari in Kenya. That was from 1 hour outside after dark without repellent on. Deet is amazing stuff though keeps anything anyway just don't spill it on clothes it strips colour lol x

Ahhh Alexis when we did yreatment for my daughter we had to sign something to say we hadn't been to zika risk country in the last 6 months :( could you go anywhere else? xxx

Just read above..not sure if Thailand is included. Maybe ring a fertility clinic to ask? xx

I just looked online and found a website of a clinic in essex and they said no treatmejt for 8 weeks but Thailand was on the list. 8 weeks though may be ok as not sure what kind of time frame they will give you anyway? xx

Yeah I reckon we wouldn't be due any treatment for a while anyway on the waiting list is about 1 year but a friend of a friend was told this so booked a hol whuch was in a zika zone and then letter came in early and now she is just deferring but hers is 6 months post treatment! It is what it is I guess! She is at same treatment clinic as me

Hmm maybe some are 6 months then as mine was too. So end of October. Would you be happy deferring till then if it came early? It does seem a shame to cancel when the waiting list is a year! What about a natural pregnancy..form what I can find onlime it seems to be ok if you just wait 8 weeks not ttc? xxx
