Trans Vaginal scan

Anyone had one? What's it like? I'm worried about this never had a smear and don't use tampons so think this is going to be hellish?

Midwife has booked me an early scan for Thursday, she told me more than likely it'll be trans-vaginal. Just keeping my fingers crossed there is a heartbeat!

Not had one myself but I,ve heard they,re just uncomfortable not painful.

They are fine! Sounds far worse than it actually is - but you will need this to get a good picture.

I've had about 10 of them.

They are fine, I have only had a slight discomfort at the very worst point (when they moved the wand thing round to get a good look at my ovaries - which they probably wont even do with you!)

Please do not worry at all.

You'll have far more intrusive things happen as your pregnancy progresses - like labour

They are ok, I've had several now. Not very dignified but not horrible. It looks a bit like a big dildo with a condom on the end and lube lol. Seriously though they are fine they don't hurt. Xxxx

I've had a couple, a little bit uncomfortable but no where near painful. Just a probe gets inserted and wiggled round. TBH you'll be so interested to see what's on the screen that you won't worry about it I had my first scan with Pea at 6+3 and they managed to find baby abdominally, so they might try that first with you x

I've had this scan quite a few times, it wasn't sore I just found it uncomfortable, I was like u I had never had a smear so I was really worried. Good luch with your scan x

I can only agree with everyone else, its not painful just a tad embarrassing cos u have to strip off ur bottom half. They usually give u a gown to put on over the top of ur t-shirt, so no one really sees anything apart from when they aim the wand at ur bits. just so they can see where they are pointing.

I was a bit disappointed at my 8+1 week scan last week that she did a tummy scan cos the picture really isn't that clear. So just look forward to getting an amazing picture at the end of it xx

I've had 2 on both our scans

Was a little uncomfortable but it gives the best pictures, the more relaxed you are the less it will be uncomfortbale so try to relax.

They have a wand thing (looks a bit like a vibrator LMAO (this was hubby's description not mine) ) that they use and they put it up your vagina and they will move it around to look for baby Sorry if that is too much info

Ha ha, we've nicknamed it 'dildo-cam'!!

I can only echo what everyone else has said; it's not exactly pleasant but it's not terrible either. It's a bit uncomfortable when they start moving it about, but it's not unbearable. The probe itself isn't all that wide and they do use plenty of lube! And to be honest, once you see your baby on the screen you dont even notice whats going on down there!

youll be absolutely fine, as everyone has said just a bit uncomfortable but once its in youll find yourself staring at the screen or the ceiling until they tell you its there coz i was sooo scared on both my 6 week and 8 week scan.
You will get a brilliant picture tho, totally bedazzled me.
Just relax as much as you can xxx

I haven't but it does put me off wanting to pay for an early scan, I'm not skinny so I am certain they wouldn't find the baby abdominally!
