Hi all, I'm currently 24 weeks pregnant. What's the guidance on when you should start tracking baby movements? From how many weeks pregnant does that start from and should I be counting a certain number per day? Thank you for any advice.

Have a look on kickscount website.

They have fab information on monitoring movement.

In short there's no set amount of movement you should be feeling in a day. Each baby is an individual and will have an individual pattern of movement. You need to learn your babies pattern and report any changes to your midwife right away. Don't ever hesitate to call if you're worried about movement or think that you'll leave it until the morning, always call right away.

There's been a lot of misinformation about movement such as babies running out of room towards the end of pregnancy or going quiet before labour to conserve energy. This simply isn't true and while the type of movement you feel may change as your pregnancy progresses the frequency should not.

Thanks Emily. The thing is I feel her loads one day and then the next day she'll have a quieter day which always worries me. I can feel her kicking a bit at the moment so I hope she's ok but yesterday she was really moving. Like I said I am 24 weeks so I hope I can sense some kind of pattern soon. I have an anterior placenta too. Thanks again for your advice. X x

when do you usually start feeling baby move? I am 14 and a half weeks and had a really odd sensation when I lay down to go to sleep last night. Never felt anything like it before it was sort of like a flicking sensation....is this baby? Anyone else felt movements this early?
