Too late/early????

Hi there,

...I am on day 11 of a 29 day cycle and by my calculations should be BD'ing like crazy the 16th - 20th Aug. However, I have just been to the loo and discovered really clear EWCM, I did noticed this earlier too but thought nah, too early...
My predicament is that my husband works away and is not back until Thursday evening - will this be too late?? We did BD yesterday morn though so is there a chance we could have caught the window?
Any opinions?

You could have more than one patch of EWCM this month. I have had 2 patches for the last 2 months. Some women do. If this is the case, you'll get some EWCM now and then some more around the days right before ov.

Even if this is the only patch of EWCM, it could last a couple of days - maybe till Thursday. And ovulation does not occur until EWCM clears up.

Are you using OPKs and/or temping too? Those help me not go crazy over just the CM, which can be VERY tricky!

yeah I am using OPK's but not sure how good they are as I bought 20 off ebay for £5.00 inc postage and this is my first month of using this lot.
Unfortunately I can't temp as I work shifts so wouldn't be accurate.
I tested earlier today with an OPK and it was negative, hopefully my prediction of this weekend is spot on and so will actually give me a chance to bd in time.
Its just all so complicated!!

trigg babs my dates are a bit similar to yours and this is my first month of OPKing too

The OPKing is not very convincing is it? I keep wondering if the tests are working, I might test twice on suspected OV day so as not to miss the crucial sign

I'm on day 12 today- (Tuesday) of a 27 day cycle

no sign of EWCM yet, very watery.

I know, I thought well if I get 20 then I could more or less test every day (bit excessive I know) but then surely I won't miss anything and maybe it does make a difference what time etc you test.
You will have to keep me informed on how you get on and I will do likewise.

Hi Ya, i'm on my third month using opk's and you do need to use at least one every day as some women the LH surge is detectable for only 12 hours, which means you need to try and test around the same time everday and possibly once around 11am and again about 6pm nearer the day of ov. You also need to limit your fluid intake about 2 hours before you test as it dilutes you wee

I have used boots, first response and cheap ebay opk and have got + on all. Some people just don't get on with them though!!

still a negative OPK result, I know you have a couple of days yet before you think you are due to OV, Trig, but by my sums I'm supposed to tomorrow.

Trigger, how are you doing with the OPKs? I brought more from superdrug, there on buy 1 get 1 free.

am still having a go with the ebay ones and nothing yet although my calculations (hmmm...) show should be from today (16th) to the 20th so am hoping for a + any day soon. Having read Sophie's post about limiting the amount of fluid intake I think perhaps I have been going wrong slightly there as have been drinking loads throughout the night lately!
Also, have been having dull aches today so am hoping they are OV pains as my husband has come home from a couple of days away with work and is off again Monday.
Superdrug buy one get one free sounds fab Katyk, at least with those you can be sure they are working, might pop and get some tomorrow. Hope you get your + soon.

It looked almost as dark as the control, much darker 2day so I bet it was 2nite or OPK will be + tomorrow. Been drinking squash 2nite, and had a hangover so didn't feel like bd-ing maybe 2moro will be ok lol

So yours might be there in a day or two trig

Yeah fingers crossed, I am working throughout tonight so am trying not to o.d it on the liquid although I am sure I read in a diff thread that first morning wee isn't the best anyway (although my first morning wee will be technically my last thing at night??? )
Anyway, nice to know someone else has the odd one too many, I was exactly the same yesterday!!

I keep weird hours too (don't do mornings) so don't know when to test. The opk looked darker earlier yesterday and lighter yesterday eve and today.

So I think OV may have been sometime yesterday. So I had better do a bit more bd'ing today for luck

Hi there sorry for jumping in - I have watched programmes on fertility etc and tbh anything I could find online etc. One of the things that I've always remembered is Zita West. She says that you count back 14 days before the start of your next cycle and thats when you're fertile so bd'ing should start a few days before then and should be every 2/3 days. So if you've got a 40 day cycle like myself you're fertile on or around day 26 which means you start bd'ing around day 22. This means there should be a fresh supply of sperm there waiting for the egg.

Hi Kelsey I have also been doing the 14 day count back but really wanted the green light on the Ovulations sticks which I still have not had yet Katyk!!!

I am up to poas twice a day now and am hoping the situ will be like yours and I have got my dates slightly out, finishing work in a bit so rushing home for my 5 min window ( shouldn't be a problem!! ) to bd as off out then. Phew!...

Hope i don't put a spanner in the works but i have read that the second phase can be between 10 and 16 days, not everyones is 14 days, but we nearly always have the same second phase, mine was always 12 days after ovulation

day 18, which totally suprises me ....I think I trick myself into believing I have a 28/29 day cycle guaranteed which seems so not the case.
Its also quote reassuring as I have always looked at day 14 - as my ov day and not 14 days before my period - whatever date that may be.

I am so pleased I found this site as for years I have been pootling along trying to wonder why it was taking so long to get pregnant and now it kinda makes sense - although on the flip side I am becoming a major POAS addict!!
