I only work weekends and last week had to decide when to start maternity leave, i was kinda on the spot and decided to go 7th June so i'd have a good few weekends to get last minute things, as baby daddy wont buy anything and i dont wanna go alone my only option atm is evenings which are tiring so it'd be nice to have them.

Anyway, i remembered i have holiday to take too as i havnt used any yet this year, its 4 weeks and counting back would mean next weekend is my last one!! This seems so early as i will only be 32 weeks!!

What do you think?? Should i try and postpone it a few more weeks or enjoy the time off??

I've already got a saturday off for exam, a sunday off due to a wedding reception and my birthday weekend (late bank holiday) off in May anyway.

I dont know what to do, i havnt had a weekend off since september when i want on holiday, and before that i was working almost all of the weekends anyway, so it's be nice to spend some relaxation time with David before baby turns up and not have to hear about baby daddies escapades.

HELP lol

enjoy it , i left at 29 weeks due to 6 weeks hol , but was in hossy from 32 anyway lol

If you are feeling well and pregnancy going o.k i would personally have a week or weekend off now then go back for a bit. Thats because i had to (because i work as a teacher and it was the hols) take mine last pregnancy at 33 weeks and loved the 1st couple of week but found the rest dragged AND i went almost 2 weeks over! This time im working till 36/37 weeks but im only part-time this time as have my son.

Good luck :D x

I would say to go for it as long as you have other adult company when you leave work. I've been signed off since 20 weeks and to be honest I've been really bored sometimes as nearly everyone else I know works. I loved it when OH was off for a while as was able to have days out and someone to talk to :D

And depends how organised you are as well, 8 weeks before your due date isn't that long when you consider you may pop early, you'd have plenty time to set up things for baby!

Reading posts from other ladies who are further on, it seems the last few weeks are really uncomfortable so I'd not want to leave it too late :?

I'm leaving next week when I'll be 35 weeks. I have a tiring job but tbh I think I could've done another week at least.
I think it depends on how you are feeling and how pregnancy is effecting you.

I'll have 5 weeks at home if baby comes near to EDD which I'm hoping won't drag too much but I don't think I'd want more than that...especially cos any time I take before then means less time after baby is born...I'd rather work closer to my EDD and have more time off when Lo is born.

BUT..if you feel you need the time off then go for it....if not leave it for a few more weeks.

Sound like you've already made your mind up, I say if you want to finish then finish, it is lovely to finish work and be able to get things ready and prepare for your baby. Plus you will be able to enjoy the time with your OH.

It would be nice for you and your OH to spend a bit of time together before the baby arrives- this is the last weekend I have with OH not working and we have nothing special planned :wall:

Wish we could have had a weekend away or something last month because now bump's arrival is imminent we cant!

I left work early because I was commuting into London everyday and couldn't manage anymore and I've been able to get everything ready for bub so I can spend the next 0-25 days relaxing and having 'me time'

Im due the day before you and Im off already! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

definitely enjoy it!!! :D

I personaly HAD to work up untill today 36 weeks then i took all my annual leave in one lump with one week of maternity before my due date.
I just couldnt afford to leave any earlier if i hadnt got so much holiday pay owning id still be at work till i dropped

but its up to you what you do if your healthy and coping well id say stay for a bit longer.
but if moneys to to much of a huge issue and you ares tugglong with the pregnancy then go ahead take early maternity as you and the babies health comes first not money

sarah
