Hi everyone, just a little bit of background. I was in this section in 2014 when I was ttc. Unfortunately my first pregnancy ended in a mmc, then my 2nd was an early mc, my third pregnancy resulted in my daughter. Unexpectedly in June this year I discovered I was pregnant but again this resulted in a mmc. It was actually a suspected molar and I was told under no circumstances to ttc and waited 6 weeks on results to come back which said non molar). My doctor has written to the hospital asking whether they’ll consider doing some tests but has warned me they might say no as the miscarriages aren’t consecutive.

I don’t know whether to take a leap of faith and try again or wait what could potentially be months for tests to get done.

What would you ladies do?

Rainbow i am guessing you was told not to ttc because of the suspected molar? As the tests have come back and shown that it was non molar i don't see why you wouldn't be able to start your ttc journey again?
If there is no reason to wait then i would just go ahead and try again. It could take months for you to get pregnant again so waiting for god knows how long for tests to be done (which isn't a definite) sounds silly to me. x

I agree. I can understand not wanting to if the mc were taking a toll on you mentally and physically but if you feel ready I can't see why you shouldn't.

The reason I was thinking of waiting is because 3 out of 4 of my pregnancies have ended in mc and my doctor has asked if I can have tests. I’m conflicted about waiting and having the tests if I’m offered them or just going for it again. I’m just scared of the mental tole it would take on me to have to go through a fourth miscarriage x

But at the same time months and months of waiting takes a tole as well x

I totally understand both points but there is a chance that you may be lucky and won’t miscarry next time.
I think tbh it’s all down to you and your oh on how much you want another child and how quickly.
Good luck in whatever you decide to do. X

Thanks. Yeah, ideally we want to try as quickly as possible but we’re both scared of having to go through this again. We’ll need to give it more thought x

Rainbow we're going for it straight away, first cycle after mc. We've had 7 losses altogether and it does take its mental and physical toll but it's giving me something to focus on to try move forward. We've never had tests done. As soon as I find out I'm pregnant, I'm on baby aspirin and high dose folic acid. Could you try that? It's quite commonly prescribed to women with recurrent miscarriages. You can get baby aspirin over the counter but hdfa has to be prescribed.

Sorry teachermummy I just saw this. I have been reading a bit about these things. Has your doctor advised you to take both? I’ve really had no guidance At all and feel a bit abandoned. I’m hoping If I get some tests then I’ll have a contact I can speak to about these things x

I would make sure to take a high dose of folate/methylfolate and consider adding maca. It is used to prevent miscarriage and I took it through my pregnancy with my youngest and with this one as well. Best of luck to you.

Funny you say that knoll my doctor just told me that the blood tests I had done when I was last pregnant showed my folic acid was ‘quite low’ but no one told me that at the time so it was never adjusted and I lost the pregnancy x

Good luck to you and blessings in whatever happens and whatever you decide! <3

Rainbow, I am so sorry no one told you that! You may have trouble methylating folic acid on your own (many people do!), which is why your levels were low and why you really need to take the active form, to be sure. I love the Thorne brand. I take a folate/b12 combo. Or I did while TTC, now I take a prenatal that has the methylated form of both.

Best of luck to you!

Thank you. Kholl if I didn’t have that trouble could taking that kind do any harm or is it harmless but just beneficial if you happen to have an issue? X
