I like coffee...iced coffee to be frank lol And well, I am looking into teas as I used to love them. Any tips on how to cut back on caffeine?

I was thinking of caffeine teas then going decaf. What has helped anyone here if they had to do this?

I went decaff with tea and coffee and to be honest didn't notice much of a difference. If I was having a really tired day I would have a cheeky cup though and not worry too much about it (later on in my pregnancy.) I've know people really count what caffeine they have and I just found going decaff for hot drinks easier as then I didn't worry about it when I had the odd glass of coke; hot drink when out and about or chocolate

I was getting a lot of headaches from drinking too much caffeine tea at work. I slowly cut back the number of cups and replaced them with just one caffeine cup when I arrived at work, then two decafs and water for the rest of the day.

I’m now down to no caffeine and a lot more water and I’ve only had one headache over the past month. :D

My tip would be hot ribena. I love it! I was worried about cutting down on caffeine when I got pregnant but it turned out that from about 5 or 6 weeks I couldn't stomach it at all anyway! I've had the odd iced tea but that's it, ribena all the way now! Although I seem to think you're American(?) so you may have trouble finding it or might think the English are even more insane with their blackcurrant syrup water!

Are you getting your iced coffee from a coffee shop? I know some of the big chains offer decaf options.

Yes I am in the states and I looked that up but its quite pricey on our Amazon. I actually get cartons at the grocery store and sometimes get them from a big chain. I should do decaf whenever I get them though. I used to do that until I got hooked to caffeine! lol

I had my normal cup of tea in the morning and then decaf the rest of the day. That way my colleagues also didn’t guess I was pregnant because I wasn’t still drinking tea like it was going out a fashion! :rotfl: X

This was another reason of mine! If I ever do manage to get pregnant then my tea habits won’t look odd, haha.

How did I not know you was in the States. For some strange reason I thought you was in England x

I went decaf. I loved Americano and they can have quite a bit of caffeine in them. Also went decaf tea and after a while never really noticed the difference! The cutting back on chocolate was hard for me so I opted for frozen yoghurt as I had a very sweet tooth while pregnant.

I did the same thing. 1 caffeinated cup of tea for me and then decaf coffee the rest of the day. I also like hot vimto and hot chcooate too

I’ve switched to decaf coffee. There’s hardly any difference. I quite like it. I’m more tired but that might just be a coincidence. X

One of the first signs I was pregnancy was that the coffee I normally make at home tasted really really strong and unpleasant. I then switched to decaf but now I can't stand the smell or taste of even that so I'm not drinking it at all. Still have coke zero occasionally but I'm also struggling with fizzy stuff right now so apart from chocolate, I'm pretty much off it.

Recommended daily caffeine is 400mg which is roughly two large Starbucks but you can check the amount you are having if you are worried. Pregnant recommended is 200mg so you coffee etc is still possible in moderation

A good drink for the morning instead of a coffee is half a lemon squeezed into a cup with teaspoon of honey and hot water. Really good for digestion and pretty tasty
