Tips on getting baby to feed longer?

When my LO feeds it tends to only be for 5 or 10 mins at a time - sometimes after a long sleep she can feed for about 20 mins. During the night she's had a few spells of only taking tiny amounts then waking up an hour or so later because she's hungry again! I've tried changing her nappy, winding her, putting on tv etc to wake her up which works but when I put her to the breast she's just not interested. Any tips? Xx

How old is your LO? Could it be a growth spurt and that's why she is feeding a bit more frequently? My little one has never fed longer than 8 mins at a time. And if I tried to make him he would get annoyed. She might just be full up after 5 -10 mins, they have tiny tummy s when babies.

Best you can do, is what your doing and offer second breast after a break of winding and nappy change and if she refuses there isn't much else you can do.

Of course she could also be wanting comforting from the breast rather than feeding out of hunger.

How old is your baby? Some babies are more efficient/quicker so it can be normal. Main things to watch are the baby(nappies, weight gain).x

Sorry should of said she's 4 weeks. Plenty wet and dirty nappies and weight gain is perfect - was born 7lb 15oz and now weighs 9lb 9oz. I know she's getting enough etc I'm just being selfish as its getting really hard feeding as often as I am at the minute - during the day it can be every 15 mins xx

There is a big growth spurt at this time (well 6 weeks are to establish the supply) so hang in there, it does get better!

My little one is three months and was having between 8-10 mins every 2 hours. He's now going every 2 1/2 to 3 hours and having between 10-15 mins. He's always gained weight and nappies have always been fine.
