hi, i have to ask...

what is thrush exactly? i know its something to do with 'down there'

last night i woke up very itchy. on the plane, i was geting sore and put it down to sitting down for a long period of time.

how do you know if you have it?

Hi Kelso,

Thrush is a yeast infection that is quite common in pregnancy and I think itchiness down there is one of the most obvious sighns. I think some women can feel generally unwell with it too especially if it keeps coming back

I would just get some cream or pessaries from the chemist if you think it's that. The doc will only give you the same! Even if it's not that youv'e covered it.

Hiya,

Yip it's a yeast infection, everso common don't worry it's nothing nasty. Get a cream to sooth the hot feelings, you can also take an oral capsual that work on the internal yeasty bits (if you don't like the idea of a pessary!!). A good way to keep thrush (and urine tract infections) away is to drink cranberry juice (it comes plain, with apple, with raspberry etc so there should be one you like) and water is another good one. Plenty of water helps. It's horrible but use the cream it only lasts a day or so then.

You can buy it off the shelf in a chemist/supermarket etc around the £5 marker but pop to the GP....were pregnant we get it all for free right now!!

hi, i went to the docs today. have to admit, i was really embaressed and not sure why. i went in and she just looked at me waiting for me to tell her the problem.

so i whispered ' i have a yeast infection'

she then says 'ohhhh thrush' with me sinking in my seat

she then asks if its internal or external. wasnt expecting that. so i mumbel mainly external i think.

she gives me a big tube to last me for the pregnancy. and must have senced i was embaressed. as she said 'its common in pregnancy'

i pretty much grabbed the prescription and ran

so now im not sure when or how often to use it

do i just apply daily until it feels better? then apply in future if i feel uncomfortable again?

ive never had it before. it isnt very pleasant is is. its mainly after ive been sitting for a long time.

im sorry youve had it so often.

i've never taken the capsules before.. only the tablet which you insert internal

but i think you would have to take the tablets once a day (how many do you have)

and the cream apply 3 times aday...ONLY EXTERNAL

the cream just sooths the soreness... and tablets get rid of it

when it's internal.. it's just sore inside and it's really itcy hope i don't get it again

yeh then just use the cream 3 times a day till it's finshed, then you'll be back to normal

i went to the docs and was told i have thrush. she gave me cream and a pessary. ive only used the cream so far because i was a bit dubious about using the applicator; the pharmacist said its ok to use it, the leaflet said dont use it so i have just avoided it so far. The problems is that i still have the symptoms by using the cream by its self. has anybody else used the applicator?? i am going to use the pessary cuz its driving me mad

your fine to use it hun. its after 13weeks i was told by the doc. before then it shouldnt be used.

grrrrrr... thrush is an evil demon sent by the devil! i guess u dont kno 4 sure but if ur very itchy and its driving u mad, u probably have it. to avoid it u should cut down on sugar, dont use soap (except special 'feminine soap', wear cotton pants, dont wear tights, and if possible try to air your bits!
