i would think one packet of nappies is enough for 3 days but its hard 2 say about clothes, my son was a sicky baby and i would go through 4 outfits a day! ppl will always bring in more stuff 4 u if u need anythin so dont pack too much! x
I would prepare extra stuff at home for your OH or whoever to bring into hospital when your running low. I handed my OH a bag of stuff to take back home to wash and he brought more stuff each day. Otherwise you would end up with a big suitcase full of stuff. I had enough for each full day that way, at first you change about 10 nappies a day so go with about that many per day and you should have enough.
I wasn't in my own room so I found I just had too much stuff and nowhere to put anything and it made me fed up and a bit claustrophobic in a little bay.
Doing it day by day your OH can also get a load of washing on each day for you so you don't have it all to come home to xxx
^^ I agree also take some peppermints like XXX strong mints as sections can give you mega trapped wind, I found it really painful to get up because of it - the mints are a big help x
Oh yes the wind can get a bit unbearable! Most hospitals will give you peppermint water or tea to help with it. I wasn't quite as bad with the second c section but it was still terribly uncomfortable at times! Make sure you have some comfy nighties rather than PJ's if you can so nothing rubs on your scar. Another must have is some comfy clothes for leaving and after hospital. I bought some slightly larger sized pants which came over my scar onto my tum - not v attractive but really helps.
Thank you all, may seem a dull question but i have never been in hospital only visited other people, Is it better to take just cotton baby grows? Will fleecy type ones be too warm for baby?
I found the hospital to be quite warm when I had my daughter but it was summer time. I would say layers are better for warmth. I would put her in a vest and then a baby gro over that. Some little cardis just in case she needed an extra layer and of course some little hats and scratch mitts. My girl was a very hot baby all the time and he was happy with that.
I always remember a baby screaming across from me for hours, his mum didn't wake up. A healthcare assistant had to come and wake her to see to her baby and straight away she said baby was in too many clothes and was too hot. She told her to take a layer off because he couldn't settle. Some hospital wards can be cold though.
Nighties and big pants are a must.
Take slippers you can slip on so you don't have to bend down.
I found it very warm in there
Maisie got through over a pack of nappies
Accept any help and don't try and do to much straight away. ,
