Right so I went to the drs on weds juat to tell them im pg and he saod the way its done now is to the first contact we have with the obstetrics team is about 12 weeks at the hosp where thy do the first scan, bloods etc....

Just wondering if that was national or lical?

Also tmi but is anyone constipated? Im 5.5 weeks nearly roughly and very difficult shall we say to go...

Thanks x

Surely you should get a booking in appointment with your midwife before your 12 week scan? That is how it works here, i saw my MW at 8 weekswhere she (attempted) to do my bloods and blood pressure and everything and then she referred me to the hospital for my scan at 12 weeks.

I assume this must be a local thing hun x

Hey hun, my docs lost my urine sample so I went for a nurses appointment today and she's booked me in for my first MW appointment on 18th June to get my green book ect then go from there.

Your way sounds weird! I wonder why they do that x

Oh and no constipation but lots of bloating, gas and nausea (but only after I've eaten) can't eat alot at the moment or I feel sick x

I had my booking in and scan on the same day at 12 weeks, everywhere is different though.

This is how it now done locally with me too! Everything is done at the hospital at your 12 wk scan appointment! nuts! x

I had my first booking in appointment with MW 2 days after I found out I was pregnant (was only 4 weeks pregnant at time). I had constipation a few weeks ago, I'm ok now though.

i saw my midwife at 12 weeks and had scan a week later. xx

Every trust is different and even then it depends on your GP surgery and what hospital you chose.

So I saw GP at 6w, had my booking in appointment at hospital at 8w and then 12w scan at hospital

My 16w appointment and 20w scan is also at hospital BUT then I am with the GP at 24w so not back in the hospital until 28w.

Also everyone at my hospital gets a growth scan at 32w.

My SIL lived 20 minutes away but is at a different surgery and with a different hospital and she has all her MW appointments at her GP surgery. Although she too has all the main appointments (8w booking, 12w scan 16w etc) this is her second though!

xxxxxxxxxxx

Ah ok....o was only confuaed as he told me it had all changed since j. And it is different but we had him in york so could have been a national.or local thing. They didnt test me urine just sent off a letter to get booked in/scanned... Xx

It does seem to be different everywhere. I had my first mw appointment at 8w and my scan will be this week coming so 12w ish. I was expecting the mw to weigh me and do bloods at the 8w appointment but she said they do all that at my 12w hospital appointment instead.

Over here they normally give you a booking in appointment with midwife at 8 to 10 weeks.

I saw GP at 5 weeks tho and midwife at 6weeks and emergancy scan at 6weeks. I'll be having my booking in appointment tomorrow (day before 8 weeks cos she's only there once a week) should know when my dating scan is then too. Can't wait :D

Oh I also had my pee tested at midwife and got another pot to pee in for tomorrow. Don't know if this is normal tho or cos of my PCOS.

Here everything is done on the same day so my first appointment was when I was 13 + 1. I went for a scan first then round to the clinic for a booking in appointment x

Bishops stortford isnt too far away from.me hin....i dont thonk......:S had no idea it changed depending on trust thought there would just be a standardised way....huh x

It's not that far at all.
Stortford is on the East Herts/Essex border so when I saw midwife I got choice of 3 hospitals to go to. Harlow, Lister at Stevenage and Cambridge (but Cambridge are that popular there not accepting any new ones)

So I'm under Harlow since under them for my PCOS and was for my athritus (but just recantly transfered to Rivers in Sawbridgeworth for that)

Do you have any medical history? If not then that could be why otherwise is seems very odd.

No medical history well e-sec with last one but thats all lol...... Oooh ill ve at lister hospital I. Stevenage....... Xx

That might be why then hun?
If I had no medical background then it would be a normal 8 to 10 week booking in appointment then everything else at the 12 week scan.

As far as I know (hoping it's still the same) around here you book yourself an appt with midwife at 8 weeks and they refer you for your 12week scan.

As for constipation - it may not be pregnancy related directly - if you are taking pre-natel vits they can have high doses of iron in which can cause constipation........ I had terrible trouble with iron supplements the docs gave me and found 'feraglobin medicine' was great as is easy on the tummy :)

Thanks iwant thats really helped! Maybe it os just my,area spose ill find out.....12 weeks seems so far away haha x

I am the same here, I went to the GP very excited and came out very disappointed, I wasn't sure what hospital I wanted, when my husband and I decided we called the GP surgery and receptionist took a message for the Dr, lets just say the Dr didn't receive my 3 messages! So I am waiting for my appointment now after completing a self referral form online to the hospital :(. Then yesterday the GP finally called and told me they don't see patients till 12 weeks usually (btw I am in London)

Also the constipation...I have read it's very normal so we are probably all in the same boat, those vitamins don't help either
