So where do I start?! I've had a quick look on the net and am quite confused, don't know which to get or exactly what I'd need :( liners/wraps/wipes? Can any of you ladies please point me in the right direction...I thought I'd give them a whirl as my little man has really sensitive skin and has started coming up in a rash around the nappy band in disposables :(

All advice appreciated.x

Well you have to decide which type of nappy you would want. All in ones are most like disposables and really easy. I like the pocket nappies. Check with your local council to see if they do the real nappy scheme. There's a link in the section at the top. I would advise buying pre-loved nappies as they are cheap and you can find out which type you like best.

You can get reusable liners and disposable ones. I would use both reusable to protect the nappy from getting poo stains and disposables to chuck in the toilet once soiled. Wet disposable liners can be reused only once soiled are they rubbish.

I like pocket ones as well, go on just like disposies but you can take the insert out to dry quicker.

Def get some pre-loved ones to try our different kinds, as you might decide you don't like some brands. We also go some cheep ones on eBay that work really well.

Check what schemes are available in your area. Some do vouchers. Xxx

On my iPhone - so cant see tickers :(

Another vote for pocket nappys!

I've gradually brought different nappys to try as well, still do as they are all different rather than lots of the same nappy.

Also look to see if there are any Facebook groups locally as there are meetings you can go along to and chat with other mums using cloth, we're going to one tomorrow!

Oohh thanks, I'll check out Facebook later, that's a really good idea, thanks hun. I could happily slap my OH atm, he's so ignorant, all I've had is 'we can't afford cloth nappies', 'the electric bill will go up', 'urgh, your not putting my baby in second hand nappies' - its like talking to a brick wall. I want to try them because I think his skin won't get so irritated in them, but no!

I'll check out eBay anyway and have a look for some pocket ones which you've all mentioned.

I did look on our councils site and peterborough isn't listed unfortunately, not to worry tho.x

Try dudeybaba http://www.dudeybaba.co.uk/index.asp they are really cheap and do the job, if you get on with them you can up other more expensive makes. And the electric bill won't go up! I hang mine on air dryers or the line as if you tumble too much they don't last so long. He will save money not buy disposables every week! They recon you can save up to a grand over a couple of years of using cloth!

A thousand pounds?! Crikey that's really good. He's all about money and cutting back at the minute, so I'll tell him that. I have no issue with buying preloved nappies at all, especially if we don't get on with them.

I'll have a look at that website link you've given me, thanks hun.x

Pre loved are supposed to be better as they have been washed loads but I like them new as well!
Ask to join CBM sales on Facebook if you want some pre loved cloth as well

Thanks Hun, I've just sent the request in. I looked at that link you gave me too, it's really reasonable, £25 for a trial pack of 4 different types, that's seems good compared to others I've been looking at. Will order some and see how we go.x

I like the look of pocket nappies, what makes do people use & recommend?

ive got ebay cheapies which are good as long as you change them frequently, 2 hrs maximum lol. i also have some other pocket type ones, kushies which are pretty much the same as the ebay ones but dont look as cool as theyre an older type with a plastic outer wrap seperate for when u go out and about so they last longer. gnappys are highly recommended by ppl too as are totsbots or bumgenius flips

I recommend getting some snaps and some velcro (aplix/hook and loop) so you can decide what you like best.

i recommend bambino mio nappies i used them with my first and will be using them again this time although i tended to take disposables out and about to spare me and others the stink of used cloth nappies in my bag! lol
