Thinking about maternity leave . . /

one of the girls at my work took all her holiday entitlement (4 weeks) then went straight onto maternity leave.

my mat leave should start officially on 27th July but Im part time so my last working day will be 22nd July. Then LO is due on 4th August, hope he's not late too, Ill be bored!!

I was planning on starting my mat leave two weeks before my due date, but I just got signed off yesterday for four weeks so that'll likely continue up until my mat leave starts, which my employer will make me do 4 weeks before my due date now, so only two weeks earlier than I planned. I'll be taking 9 months off and my employer will pay me all my entitlements in equal monthly installments for those 9 months! Very confusing!

it is complicated isnt it! Ive spent a lot of time trying to work it all out, especially with the mat leave policy at work combined with annual leave too... Im gonna end up taking 9 months too. Im gonna have to go back after a year so I think getting the little one used to separation at 9 months will be easier than waiting until his 1st birthday when attachment is at its peak. Im gonna hate doing it though!!
