Think this is it for me

You could try a warm bath and take a couple of paracetamol, that's basically all they would tell you in hospital, but it does help a little

Keeping your hands relaxed

(allows you to open as your going with the pain not against it) a good analogy for this imagine having an injection in your bum if you tense it hurts ten times more and you bruise...and what are you hands doing???? gripping really tight.....if you relax just your hands your whole body relaxes. Easy to remember too

Breathe

Sway those hips

Go into yourself ....no distractions

:D :) 8)  :moon:

* Blowing the contraction out through my mouth. Sounds stupid, but during the contraction I would breathe in through my nose and then blow out through my mouth (slowly though). It worked for me, as I had to concentrate to get it at the right speed (DH was great at letting me know if I was breathing too fast etc) plus it made my top lip go numb which felt hilarious in between contractions!

Leaning against something every time I got a contraction. Having a warm bath and staying calm

I found these tips from another post hunni xxx[/quote:3l2v13m8]

Good find Tillytots, going to try and remember these. Natural Mama's suggestion sounds obvious when you read it and yes it does sound easy to remember but will I be able to remember it at the time................hmmmm?? Got a rubbish memory as it is so not much hope for me.

Oooh good luck hun!

I managed last week without any pain relief other than paracetamol for ages, it bl**dy hurt but I found a hot water bottle under my bump, sitting very upright on a ball if you have one and bouncing gently, or get on your hands and knees and sway your hips helps.
Also if you can get someone to massage your lower back.

Good luck will be thinking of you

Brilliant news! :cheer:

Hope you're not finding the pain too bad

Your probably back in the hospital now but if not and your in for a long time at home like i was. try these things:
have a really warm bath
get OH to rub your lower back when you get a contraction.
Get OH to drive you around, it hurts like hell but brings on the contractions
Walk around as much as you can. Its horrible but trust me as soon as you get to the hospital thats what they'll tell you to do, horrible horrible but brings ont he contractions.

Good luck x

Hopefully you've dilated a lot more now and are in hospital :D
If not I too can recommend a warm bath.

Good luck! Hope it's going well!

Hope you are back in hospital dilating fast by now - great tips above everyone - I found the hip swaying, breathing and hand relaxation ones particulalrly good in the past. The hand relaxation we did in antenatal classes - starting with thumbs and working up to shoulders and rest of body - I use it when I cant get to sleep and never get past my elbows before dropping off :)

good luck candy girl will watch for news :cheer:

Im still here
contractions wore off this afternoon but are now back with a vengeance at 8 mins apart (average)
Im in agony - have tried TENS but it hurts more, have already taken 2 lots of paracetemol with no luck there either. Going to go hop in the bath now and see if that helps
I want to go back to hospital but at 8 mins apart Im prob not that much more dilated than this morning and dont want to be sent all the way home again
