the wheel fell off my car

when I was driving. It was the space saver spare wheel. I was only doing 20 and was outside a school when the wheel just fell off. I had an inkling something wasnt right as it was making a funny noise for a wee minute before and I was looking for a safe place to pull in.

It was a major panic, I stopped right outside the school, just cleared the school carpark exit and all this was happening at the busiest time of day for that road, no one could get by me, joe was in the back and I was supposed to be picking jess up from nursery (not at that school), a bit further up the road).

NIGHTMARE

Kind men though came to my rescue and I phoned my dh who was at home and my dad who was just down the road.

Now im home its kinda funny (til the bill comes in from the garage )

i nearly went to irvine which would have meant going on the by pass, i didnt bother as I was concious of the spare wheel and thought I better leave it till the regular tyre was back on.

ouch.. repair bill shouldnt be too bad if it didnt land on the bodywork? lol usually only the brake disk that needs changed. how did it happen anyway, loose nuts?... very distinctive noise when a wheel is loose lol had one come off at 100+ once... wasnt very fun!

good to see someone that acctually pays attention to the whole idea of the space saver though lol see people running them for weeks, and on the motorway etc just not designed for it
