Such a tragic waste of a young life. It's beyond my comprehension. I'm not religious though.......my kids are my religion these days, I'd do ANYTHING I had to in order to be there for them.......

Thats very sad.

Peter Welsh, 24, was best man at the couple’s beach wedding in Barbados two years ago. He said: “Everyone is devastated by what has happened.

“We can’t believe she died after childbirth in this day and age, with all the technology there is.

Did he not understand that they could have but she refused? :?

I noticed that aswell Jenna!

Its so so sad, Im not religious but I am very spiritual, but whatever my beliefs they would be pushed aside if someone I loved was in a life/death situation.

I agree!

It's so sad

poor babies - how the hell is the dad gonna explain that to them when theyre older??????

It's nice to have a belief and all,but not to the detriment of your childrens happiness :( This is one reason why we're not going to teach Willow anything about religion-she can do what she wants when she's older

It was tragic but i honestly see no sense in berating the mother or her family.
That kind of belief is something no one can understand if you dont have the same level of conviction in your faith.
Two babies now have to grow up without a mother, be sad for them, pray for them but dont belittle the belief system and faith of their family. We may not understand it but that doesnt make it wrong.

I'm sorry, but whatever my belief's are I would never ever put them before the needs of my children.

That's true in a way,and I for one respect other people's beliefs,no matter what they are (unless they are something quite obviously wrong, like you hould kill jews or something) and I don't think being a Jehovah's Witness is wrong at all,if that's what you want to do.BUT I do think leaving two newborn babies without a mother for the sake of a belief,no matter how strong,is wrong.

Didn't it say that the girl wasn't capable of making the descision for herself,so they consulted the family, and they refused,or something? I can't help but wonder if she had been able to,would she have changed her mind, after seeing and holding her babies.?Poor girl anyway

Nothing surprises me when it comes to what people will do in the name of their religion. As an atheist, to me it is just another tragic waste of life.
Its so terribly sad those 2 children will now grown up without their mother :(
At least the family involved will be comforted in their belief that she is now safe in heaven.

So sad, but the docs respected the mothers wishes no matter what 'day and age we live in'. Poor children

My ex's family were Jehova's Witnesses... and even though my ex wasn't so to speak.. he said to me that if our daughter needed a transfusion, he would have to "think" about it... :? He used to scare me stupid with talk like that...

It's such an ingrained religion, the same as Catholicism and Islam.. where the beliefs are so very strong. You don't realise how strong till you become a part of that life. My DD has an uncle who refuses to acknowledge her existance because she was born out of wedlock.. It seems extreme but it all has total logic to Witnesses.

They believe in something beyond death, and it is the fear of that, that keeps them bound to their beliefs. It might seem tragic to leave two newborn twins on their own, but its even more tragic to go and spend the rest of eternity in damnation and never see those twins again in the afterlife.

I don't believe in any of that personally... I think most established religious practices are total rubbish ( I think Christenings are rubbish UNLESS you are a true believer) ... but I understand why these people are willing to make such huge sacrifices. Death for them is a scary concept so they need to ensure they go to the right place.

The only problem is,they are really screwed if there IS no afterlife

Yea, i read this when up the hospital with Leah, having been through the same thing, i cant imagine not taking the blood transfusion i had (i lost 7 pints of blood when i had leah n had to be resusitated (sp) ), lookin at Leah grow over the last 18 months has been amazing. I really wouldnt of missed it for the world.

Im not knocking the religion at all as thats what shed be taught and grew up on but i really feel sorry for her children and her family. Such a shame, i wonder how her parents feel?

I won't comment on the religeous aspect because it will rile up a whole load of grief, but i do feel bad for the family.

As a catholic I don't agree with some of the comments on here.

Maybe I am more modern as with other people I have met who would also consider themselves to be catholics or muslims etc. Not everyone is extreme Squiklet and I personally think that wars are started by extremists in any religion but fear and prejudice are born out of views like yours. I have friends who are also catholics, one of whom is divorced and other 'catholic' friends who have had children out of wedlock.
Please don't think that all people of a certain religion are fundementalists in that religion - most are just trying to live a normal life like you!
