is anyone else struggling finacially? We are finding we can barely afford to live.

I had my weekly main shoping bill down to around £80 and now its over £100. And im not buying anything extra each week. Its just that things have gone up.

Then theres petrol :talkhand: and utility bills etc :? All sky high.

Today hubbys car has gone in for MOT and they have just phoned to say its failed miserably. over £300 repairs :(

Our Devon holiday in August is no more.

Its really depressing that the cost of living is so high now.

I know exactly what you mean.it seems each week i go to the supermarket i spend more and get less.its ridculous.we spend so mch money on just keeping aroof over our head and petrol in the car as we live over a mile to school.i totally sympathise with you.

sorry to hear about devon hun

thanks.
I think everyones in the same to boat to be honest aren't they. :(

Yep, we're struggling too. We called the mortgage company to tell them i was on maternity leave and need some help. They basically said there's nothing they can do, it's not their problem, they aint lending to anyone anymore and to go elsewhere and remortgage!!! Some help ay?!? We're just paying what little we can afford and there's nothing they can do about it! My shopping bill had doubled, and that's for 2 of us! And it cost OH £20 a week in fuel for a 10min drive to work! It's a joke!

i think peole should start rioting soon.
im ready for it.

i'm so angry about it all

Yes def feeling it. Food has gone up again. I buy OH a 500g pack of mince. This time last year it was £1.40, it is now £2.25. Tesco's own tarragon 3 weeks ago was 40p a pot, its now over 80p. 100% increase   Obviously just a few examples but my shopping bill has gone up loads.
Hate to be the bearer of bad news but it's going to get worse. Recession is upon us. Food is set to continue to rise, fuel, utilities, house prices will continue to drop. All we need is employment to follow. Both my brothers were in skilled positions have been made redundant in the last 6 months. Its worrying times. My OH works in the financial sector and they have seen this on the cards for quite a while.

i think we have been in recession for a while already  - its felt like it anyhow. :(
The good thing is both mine and hubbys jobs are safe ones. thank god.

Thats good hun  So is my OH's, thankfully. I had just started to go back to work part time (self-employed web desginer) But I don't think I'll have much work coming in. We should be ok though as long as things don't get too bad. I watched a report on channel 4 the other night that said gas could go up by 70% by the end of the year

Do they not offer a maternity break? Im with Northern Rock and they allow you to take a 6 month break on the mortgage

There has also, where we are been a slight decrease of 4p per litre in petrol and diesel because the cost of a barol of oil has gone down.

yes it sucks. but its a great time to buy shares, i dont kno much about the stock exchange but when the country is poor like it is now, the shares are dirt cheap and in a few years when we've sorted ourselves out u could make a massive profit on them. im in a wrok share scheme that ends in september and coz of the recession ill only get back what i put in, iv made no money grr! but i shall buy some more in sept when they do it again, and this time i should definately make a nice juicey profit!

Yep, we are starting to struggle a bit as i've been signed off work for 2 months and don't think i'll be going back. They didn't give me any sick pay, had to chase it up so i'll be getting £330 on friday thank god. We do some shopping at aldi, get our meals for the week for 37 pound then just go to morrisons for baby essentials. Aldi nappies are fab, a pack of 44 for £5. Pampers are about £9 for the same size. I think it pays to do some shopping in different shops. I'm up for the riot too

i dont no sweetie.

we are really struggling too budge. Im sorry about your holiday, we arent getting one either. A day here and a day there is seeming quite hard on the pocket too. Im glad the kids dont really know any better.

Food wise, its impossible to do a cheap shop. My kids eat fruit like its going out of fashion and the government want people eating healthier but its so expensive to eat healthy.

My overdraft is 'large' and to top it off my dh got £500 stolen from him at his work. He is self employed and one of his workers took it. Nothing we can do about it, cant prove who done it.

Nope. They said they will not help us! They are the most unhelpful mortgage company! I have spoken to these people a few times in the past and i have had to hang up on them as they literally shout at me, then when my OH calls them back they're so nice!
