The coil

Hello ladies,

Just wondering whether you have/have had the coil and your experience of it.

The docs keep banging on about contraception and i need to decide. My OH keeps moaning at me as i keep telling them our form of contraception is no sex (we just dont have any time!)

argh what is it with the coil both my mum and my doc keep chasing me with it tryna impale me

iv heard mixed stories tbh, some say its fab but i cant help homeing in on the 2 or 3 horror stories iv heard, i am never having one of them things put in

I had the Mirena coil. It worked for me but I've heard mixed stories too. I think it's the same with any contraception, it either suits you or it doesn't.

For me it bloody hurt going in and gave me serious cramp for a few hours. After that I was fine, I put a little weight on but not too much and didn't have any periods for five years. You do have to keep check that the strings are in place as occasionally it can move, mine was always okay though. It took me two years to get pregnant afterwards, but that could have been due to any number of reasons.

I have read about some girls who had increased bleeding and awful mood swings. If you go for it and feel crappy then get it taken out.
