So I know it is a long time off but I have my gtt in June but I am beyond terrified so much so I was awake for 3hrs last night thinking of it
I had 1 with my daughter and had to sit in a packed waiting room boiling hot on my own. I managed to drink the drink slowly, I got to 20mins before 2nd blood test felt so incredibly neasous I really thought I was done for and would be sick and have to retest. I managed to stumble down to the entrance of hospital to get some air but felt so close to passing out even down to tunnel vision managed to just about sit down sweating like mad mid December was so so close to being sick. Id managed to phone my husband to came from work to sit with me he said I looked so pale. Managed to get my bloods done and in the car to go home where I could lie down but felt so ill for 24hrs after. All came back negative, but I am terrified will feel same this time and the hospital which we are using this time is such a long walk to get any air outside just dont know what I am going to do

Any advice or tips....id just be mortified to faint or be sick in public?????

Get something substantial to eat and drink just before your time limit so your not dehydrated.
Take some bottled water and a snack to have afterwards to build your energy back up.
Also if it the heat take one of those hand held fans and one of those cool mist sprays to keep yourself cool. If suggest some calming music to listen to. At least this time you can be well prepared xxx

I cant remember last time think I was that traumatised from.it I blanked some of it out but can you drink water during the 2hr wait?

I am also not looking forward to mine in May :( I haven't had one before but the whole idea of it sucks. I doubt it will even come back positive, but cos I'm overweight they throw in all this extra crap :/

I had 2 last pregnancy and got my first one in 2 weeks. It really wasn't that bad. I had gestational diabetes last time so expecting it to be positive this time too.

Make sure you take someone with you and definitely talk to your MW about how anxious it's making you feel.

Im going to tell her at my 17wk appointment if they can give me somewhere to sit/lie thats not a waiting room on plastic chairs might be better. My friend got a bed for 2hrs as she was sick during 1st attempt

Tell the hospital what happened last time and see if you can lie down for it, or at least elevate your feet Hun. I've got mine tomorrow and also had it last time, I was dreading it last time as I'm a real fainter when I don't eat but they let me put feet up and it was fine xx

Even take pillow to sit on. Luckily mine where fine if not boring but the seats wherent too uncomfortable xx

Mine wasn't too bad as I was sat in the day room on the sofa and could just chill out and watch TV. It would have been worse if I had to sit in the waiting room for sure!

Hopefully once you've discussed it with the MW, she'll be able to help come up with a plan to put your mind at ease and make it an easier experience for you.

Fingers crossed they will do something for me rather than just look at me like I am completely off my rocker!
