I'm 31 weeks. Was going to apply for a maternity allowance (I don't qualify for a statutory maternity pay). Annnnd I realised that I can't apply for MA either. I need to have been employed or self-employed for at least 26 weeks out of the 66 weeks before expected week of childbirth - I'd been employed for exactly 25 weeks and 0 days (haven't worked since Sept 2018)
. As far as I understand, you are counted as being in work even if you only work for one day or part of a day that week. It means I'm just one day short!
Last week I registered with 2 temp agencies, they promised to give me a ring if there will be some short term job available, cleaning etc. I worked as a temp before, liked packing jobs, would like to do data entry. But I wouldn't hire me now. My bump is obviously showing, so I'm not physically fit anymore and every day I'm getting bigger. Plus my verbal English skills are not great at all - Glaswegian is really hard to understand.
Where would you go looking for a job for just 1-2-3 weeks? And what job? Feel trapped...
