I sent off my forms with all the details it asked for.
But it only asks for last years income... do they need to know if this tax year will be different?
And if so how different does it need to be for me to tell them?
The thing is it's all a bit confusing for us!
Last year our income was fairly low as me and OH were working just part-time for most of it and I was on sick pay for a couple of months.

This year it won't be high but it will probably be a bit higher. Do they need to know that now or doesn't it matter as that will be what goes on next years form?

any ideas??

Hey honey, just give them last years info they always work from the tax year previous :) x

As above, last years is all they need - my brother was in the same boat.

This doesnt make sense to me, as last yr i had a good income, but this yr my income will be alot lot less as on maternity etc.. so this is when i will be struggling?

so surely i should get a better tax credit now.. ?xx

You will get a bit more for the first year but its still based on your previous income. I think its worked out silly, last year I had a job and this year I don't but yet our money from tax credits is less as its based on last years :(

Id call them up and tell them that you are not working so your income will be different .
At least then you are keeping yourself right

I have told them I'm not working but as its based on last years income we won't recieve any more money this year

they adjusted mine to this years income as its considerable less , well i think they have anyone as i used enitledme and put in this years wages and its just about what im getting !

I called them up as this year we will be earning less than last because my hubby lost his shift allowance so also lost 30% of his wages and they amended it for me for this year. They say you should contact them if your hours change or your wages go up or down by quite a bit. They just do it over the phone. You give them an estimate of what you'll be earning this year because if you're too much out by the end of the tax year they can ask for money back.
