Situation is......

I did a tax credit calculator thing on the direct.gov website.

I did my income £10500 full-time hours (which is what it is) as my OH's is £18000. So with our combined income, once baby is born, we are entitled to £405 (I'm guessing that's pee year.)

I did it with just my income, and it worked out to be £2377.
Me and OH don't live together (I live with my mum and he stays with us-not registered at my address or anything).

My dilema is do I do the real honest thing and combine our incomes, or do I just tell them about myself?? I know it's really dishonest and I guess I can get in serious trouble, but I have paid tax all working life and i earn sweet FA on minimum wage, and maternity pay isn't exactly a lot. So what would you do?

If u don't live together then u don't have to combine ur income...they class a partner as some1 u r married to or living with as if ur married xxx

Oooooh that's cool, we aren't married or anything, therefore I think I'll not combine us! Thanks Emma! X

be careful cos you can get into serious trouble and the government are putting more money into investigating people. does your OH get post delivered to your address? does he pay rent elsewhere? you'd have to have these as evidence if you get investigated

Emmas right. I dont live my OH so have to claim, we cant afford to live together x

Me and dh split for a while last year and I went onto a single claim, after 8 weeks we got back together but he continued livin at his mums...although we were married I could still carry on claiming as a single parent cos we both had seperate financial needs...he needed his money to pay board, bills and food at his mums and I needed to run my house and look after the kids. Xx

So there is hope! Basically, he pays rent at his parents house, all his post goes there, our bank accounts are separate, nothing to suggest we are actually a couple apart from telling people we are lol, so when I claim, do I have to declare I am seeing someone or anything?? X

Nope...in there eyes ur single xx

Sweet, that's going to help me out so much with my financial situation! Xx

id claim it as if you were on your own, to be honest if you stayed together as common law man and wife it be different but u dont so go for it girl xx

yeh i would claim in your own right as a single person.... really if uv got no ties 2gether such as a house or anything, then they dont know ur together,

so get the full wack claimed!! :-) i wish sometimes i wasnt married for things like that, lol

xxx

Def claim as single! When me and Tim wasn't living together, I got £120 a week. As soon as he moved in, it went down to £10 a week! It's a massive difference!!
