I have been prescribed 6 cycles of this drug to follow my last round of Clomid.

I can find little information of it being used for this.....

Praying this very final round of Clomid has worked though.

Never heard of It being used for ov .. only as contraception except for the normal post-cancer use... did they explain how it's supposed to work?

My mum takes Tamoxifen after having breast cancer, it stops estrogen, I'm no expert but I can't see how that will help ovulation as you need estrogen to ovulate and sustain a pregnancy, surely blocking estrogen will make you infertile ?. x

I'm not sure i want to take this.... but they were prescribed by a very reputable gynaecologist....

URGH. I think the towel is getting thrown in.

https://www.drugs.com/tamoxifen.html Tamoxifen was developed to treat and prevent breast cancer, I would advise that you fully research all possible side effects of the drug before taking it and also what if any effects there are on the baby if you get pregnant whilst taking it. Having worked in the Pharmaceutical Industry I am concerned about the variety / quantity of Pharma Drugs and Herbal drugs that are given to women when we are trying to conceive.

Mrsablett, did your gynaecologist say there was any risks or is it a very small dose. I would speak with them and tell them what you have read about the drug, it might be worth taking if you have all the information x

20mg a day. She advised me of no side effects. I've suffered awfully on the Clomid and what she did say was that i should find these easier.....

20mg for 2 cycles, then on to 40mg for 2 cycles if needed and then last 2 at 80mg...

Ahh, if its taken on the same days as clomid it would work, as clomid and soy iso both block estrogens. I thought you were going to take it every day, that would mean that you wouldn't ovulate or hold a pregnancy. xx

I didn't take it but it is an option given by my clinic, I was given the info sheet alongside the clomid info as they will swap you to it if clomid doesn't work for you. It has a similar success rate to clomid.
